Is there anyway to show latest threads on a non-vb page in vb5.x as you could with earlier versions?

Thanx for any response

Old examples should still work. Just need to update the source, as long as you have RSS out on and are on a recent version of the software.

vb5 is totally different configuration than earlier versions.
Not compatible

vBulletin 5 has the same rss out feature, you can use the tutorials you used to use.

Which rss feed tutorial are you referring to?

hmm, maybe I never posted and that is why I never got a response .. lol
I did get what I wanted to going directly into the msql db, but maybe rss would be better.
BUT, vbb 5.x has no external.php?

external?type=rss2&nodeid=XX where XX is the nodeid of the channel you want to get rss data from.

I can't get the bloody external thing to work so think I'll stick with pulling data directly from database

You can use API. I have wrote a tutorial how to do it: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=313991

It appears that vB API can't find latest threads :( Or it is so complicated that I cant find a way.

Just Create New Page, throw a Search Module on there and configure it per this blog - http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/blogs/mark-b/3931714-how-to-create-a-latest-updated-topics-module-in-vbulletin-5-connect
