View Full Version : Shopping Cart For vB4?

There used to be a couple but I cannot find them now, seems all the shopping carts have gone away. I'm looking for something that will allow downloadable products, makes the member register before they can buy, & makes them put in a URL to the site they will install the product on before they can download.

or...I have no problem with using the CMS to show the products setting my own sections etc and then having a checkout page.

Anyone know of anything?

That one does not work with vB4.2.2. I need something to work with the latest version of vB4.

Microcart is buggy, and has not seen any updates in almost 4 years, i would suggest not using it.

vBshop is fine if you are using a a virtual currency, and not selling real world items. vBshop was never intended to be a real-world cart system.

Microcart is buggy,

microCART is not buggy for someone who is willing to spend sometime reading the posts in that thread. The only does needs changes are:
1.- Change of TYPE MyISAM with ENGINE MyISAM at product-microcart.xml
2.- A simple code change in PHP file to support editor for versions greater than 4.1.4

Both fixes have post in thread (but not in the downloadable files). Other than this is the best available cart with real currency and licensing support. Some issues that maybe exist has nothing to do with downloadable products. They're on another part.

As has been added to the first post of the thread:
Edit: Please note - Currently this mod is only compatible with vBulletin 4.1.9 and below, if your using vBulletin 4.1.10 then the modifications current version released here (1.1.4) is not suggested for use. - TheLastSuperman

Also the developers website is no longer around, plus the developer has not supported the mod in almost a year.

It was a good script when it was released but it is in need of some serious work. :)

Here are some useful posts that I found there:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=2392544&postcount=758

I'm using it for downloadble products with 4.2.2 and works fine. But I've did some code changes. If you can wait till Saturday when I'll be back at my office I can post the modified version here unsupported but working.

Yes there are some useful posts in there, but this is what I am talking about.

User: i have downloaded this:
MICROCART_114_16_05_2011a.zip

now i cant figure out ,why is not uploading all pictures from the admincp
some are broken, also each item on main site ,photo is broken also.

any advice?

thanks

using vb 4.1.12

Developer: this will not work on that vbulletin version

User: are you guys working on ,so it can work?
or...

thanks

Developer: This is the only free version of this script and its not supported any more as its so out dated.

As you will see from other members they have uploaded the missing file from an older version of vbulletin to get it to work with this version.

The support i give to this free script is very limited as i have said its so out dated now i dont have the time to change the code for this.

I will help out from time to time and answer any questions that may come up.

Im working full time on my commercial scripts and dont have the time to update free scripts.

I can tell you that the commercial version does work on vb version 4.1.12 without any problems and its got alot more than this free version.

So the developer has stated that the script is outdated and will not work right on anything newer than it was coded for. But of course the paid version was supposed to work. Even if that was true it is a mute point anyway, as the developers site is no longer around, and you can not get the paid version.

It would be cool if you share your edits, but it would have to be in the mods thread, as the code in not marked reusable.

Unfortunately it can't be post on that thread for a very simple reason. I've removed everything relevant to tangible products, user shops etc. So by posting it at that thread, there is a big possibility to be download and install by someone who needs those features and the only that he will succeed is to mess his system.

My version has all the features but just for downloadable products. And offcourse I've Michael's authorization for it.

Will be interesting to see how it turns out. :)

Ok Nick I bought that shop version a long time ago from Micheal's shop when it was up and I've used it before so I'm well aware of how much work goes into making it work. :( Or at least making it work the way I want it to work. I may try it again, but I'm not entirely sure as I'll need it to work with the latest version of vBulletin every time I upgrade vB. I have to have that because the shop I'll be running will be a skin shop to sell vBulletin skins, OSCommerce, phpBB, Wordpress and so on. So in order to keep up with what customers will want (the latest skin for vB 4.......) I have to be able to update it and not have it break the site in the meantime. I'll check out those links in the meantime though.

I'll keep it updating to any 4xx version but only for compatibility, no for new features unless if I want to add something for my own use. In this case I'll share the new version.

For sure it will not be updated for 5.x

Sorry as I can't share a link of my installation, but I think that especially the inteface (with big thumbs) should be fine for you. Give a look on a similar mod (never published anywhere).

1.- Homepage (Categories): https://www.lagadas.com/ads.php
2.- Products listing (per category): https://www.lagadas.com/ads.php?do=category&categoryid=1
3.- Mouser over the thumbs to see Social Media sharing

The page are in Greek but you'll see how it looks like.

Well I most likely would not be adding anything to it, all I need is the ability to allow downloads of the skin that they bought after they put in their url. I won't be making any other changes that I know of and I can code stuff into it with no problem. I ran it before HEAVILY modified so I just wanted to make sure that I can update vb.

Yes, it works this way.

I ran it before HEAVILY modified...
If you were able to modify the huge old version be sure that it will be very easy to modify my version as it's solid and small.

so I just wanted to make sure that I can update vb.
Yes, you'll be able, as I'll update my own version.

An additional note. I got permission to release as stand-alone addon, so I need 1-2 days more to make some changes especially changing the name.

@HM666

Are you operating a local or international shop? From what I read before, most probably you're operating an international one.

Be aware that from 1st January 2015, according to new EU resolutions for electronics sales you must collect EU VAT from clients living in EU countries (EU zone) without a valid VAT id.

http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/taxation/vat/how_vat_works/telecom/index_en.htm#new_rules

Please read it carefuly. Doesn't matters if you're a US (or any non EU country) business. If you deal with EU clients you must collect EU VAT.

And here is a rule modification from an Australian marketplace selling scripts/templates

Er ok. It says that I'm operating a business outside a EU country I do not have to charge it. I'm in the US, European laws I'm pretty sure do not dictate here just as US law does not dictate there with the exception of copyrights. In this case there are no copyright infringements because I make the styles from scratch. Seems to me that if someone from an EU country bought something it would be up to them to pay a VAT tax.

No, it's for all but really don't know how it should works. My English is not in a high level to understand such rules. But I read it in Greek. Also in the 2nd example the business is an Australian company. So, non EU.

Also in the official site it has an example:

NON-EU BUSINESSES supplying to:
---------------------------
1. Business in the EU
No VAT charged. Customer must account for the tax (reverse-charge mechanism).
2. Consumer in the EU (telecoms, broadcasting or electronic services)
Must charge VAT in the EU country where the customer belongs. Example A person living in Barcelona pays a US company for access to American TV channels. The US company must charge the customer Spanish VAT. MOSS available

So, (always in simple English), if I order/buy something from you, and because I'm locating in an EURO zone country you must collect from me 23% EU-EL Vat (the VAT in use in Greece).

--------------- Added 1419540313 at 1419540313 ---------------

In short terms this is what changes:

1.- Till Dec 31st, 2014 is:
VAT payable in ("place of supply") ........so as your Shop is locating in USA, you don't have any obligation to collect VAT.

2.- From Jan 1st, 2015 should be:
always be taxed in the country where the customer belongs
........in this case has no sense if your Shop is in USA, or in Canada or anywhere (non EU), but where the CLIENT is locating.
