What does 'Marking As Installed' do ?
* It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified whenever new updates are available.
* For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention.
* Marking a modification as installed also helps me know how many people are using my work, giving me extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications.
I appreciate the support!

If you are going to convert a template edit modification to an automated template editing plugin you've to ask the original author of the modification FIRST before copying all/part of it's codes.
Personally I don't have any problem if you asked me before publishing your mod, You're vBulletin.org Advisor so you're the first person who should be bound by your forum rules !!!

You did NOT ? Anyway as I already told you I don't have such a problem of using some of my modifications codes, However if anyone looking to use some of my codes he needs to contact me first.

Ok, well here is some info for you:
Permission to use image:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=158112
Some threads that were around before your mod:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=161571
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=142948
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=75103
And if I was to have used your code, it is reusable anyway, so I would not need permission:
https://web.archive.org/web/20090204200839/http://vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=201339
I can appreciate you wanting to protect your mods/code, but you better make sure you know what you are talking about before you accuse someone of stealing your code. :)

Problem with moving it there is it sometimes breaks the layout on some sites.

That's the only reason why I am still using the other mod with the template edit instead of this one. I have a different color background behind the top links so having it outside of that looks out of place.
I understand your reasoning though.

Maybe it can be done with a conditional and option in the settings.. "If it screws up your style/layout" use this option instead? LOL

I made this plugin a while ago on my forum before you released it ozzy. Not sure if this is more simple or not.
if($vbulletin->userinfo['pmunread']){
$find = '<li class="welcomelink">';
$replace = '<li class="welcomelink">
<a href="private.php?"><img border="0" src="images/newpm.gif" width="22" height="10"></a>';
$output = str_replace($find, $replace, $output);
}

About the same thing, mine is a bit more involved as far as the html to make it render correctly in all browsers. :)

Hey Ozzy i have db notifications installed will there be a conflict with that or will this be fine to have them both

It should be fine with both. :)

I have DBTech's vBNotifications and use template modification and everything works just fine, so I guess this will work just fine with this mod also.
Just you need to know, this mod and template modification are "passive", so you need to reload page that PM icon become visible. Bun with vBNotifications it isn't so, they are "active", so you would receive PM notification as soon as PM is received (of course, depending on setting this isn't 100% instant, to save server resources).

That is correct, this does not use ajax to load the image. :)

I made this plugin a while ago on my forum before you released it ozzy. Not sure if this is more simple or not.
if($vbulletin->userinfo['pmunread']){
$find = '<li class="welcomelink">';
$replace = '<li class="welcomelink">
<a href="private.php?"><img border="0" src="images/newpm.gif" width="22" height="10"></a>';
$output = str_replace($find, $replace, $output);
}
Thanks for this, from this i was able to just put it manually in template using <vb:if condition="$vbulletin->userinfo['pmunread']">
<a href="private.php?"><img border="0" src="images/newpm.gif" width="22" height="10"></a>
</vb:if> which worked beautifully where i needed it to be.

Why do a manual template edit, vs something automatic?

Because i use https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=257261 which throws your mod off.

I have a question regarding the ozzmodz_mods folder in the upload folder. Should I upload that folder into the forum directory or go one folder deeper into the new pm notice folder? Thanks ozzy and keep the amazing mods coming!
