Hi guys.
I need some advice on a simple/easy to use gallery to replace the default "gallery" tat comes with vB 4.2.0.
It doesn't need to any fancy och tons of settings. Just as long it makes it easier for member to attach and manage picture.

Thanks. I noticed that gallery before but the pictures (especially the settings screen) is so darn re-sized that you can't see what it says.
Think i have to make a test enviroment just to try it out.
So if i install a new gallery, do i have to disable the default one later on? No one is using it so i don't care if it's disabled. Only problem is that i can't find any option about that part.

I guess that would depend on the mod, they will tell you if you need to.
As for the screenshots, take a look at the mod description page on their site,

If you want to disable access to the vBulletin "Albums", then you alter the access permissions in the "Usergroup Manager" --> User Album Permissions and remove the links in the navigational manager.

Or - you just disable it.
AdminCP->Settings->Options->User Profile Options->Enabled User Profile Features, uncheck Albums.
Well hidden, that one ;)

Just some opinion here...
I run a medium size photography forum and use PhotoPost's vbGallery. Unfortunately, they've discontinued developing it but still sell it. It's riddled with bugs and a bit incomplete, which is really a shame, because it has some great features. I could just move things over to Photopost, but it's not as integrated as vbGallery is with vb4.
DragonByte has their gallery, but it is lacking some features that vbGallery has. It just doesn't flow as well, doesn't have profile integration, the uploader is basic, etc.
Honestly, I wish there was something else out there that brought in some modern features (why do we still have form uploading?) and was a complete product rather than an afterthought.

You sound almost identical to me, have you had any luck with a solution? I am thinking eventually I'll need to migrate to a competing forum via import, plus a gallery system they use and import my vbgallery to that. I'm not seeing vb5 as anything I would even remotely consider, I nearly get an aneurysm trying to use it :(

Apexi try this one instead: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=298927&highlight=photoplog. As long as you do not have vBAdvanced Links installed it should work find for your needs.

I alse wanted something simple but as I didn't found anything I coded my own one:
https://www.lagadas.com/photos.php
Supports Categories
Supports Social Media sharing (Mouse-over the thumb).

That looks nice is it using the built in albums and just coded?

Never used any build in feature. It's simple code. Nothing special. I've coded a custom gallery with ratings, threads per album etc etc, but was so complicated that I avoided using it even for my site, that's why I coded a new one.
In that site I've coded some simple but very well working mods. Soon I'll release them for free.

Same here, looking for something to replace a lot of photopost galleries. They raised the members access to $129 a year now so unless you pay it you cannot view the support forums if your members access has expired.
Photoplog can be a bit of a bugger to set up and am leery of it since had the pro version earlier when they first came out and then disappeared for awhile.
Dragonbytes gallery is good but still lacks a lot of features - hopefully more will be added down the road.

Yeah $129 so I can use the vbgallery support forums. So I'm to pay $129 so I can use support forums for a product no longer supported :( well, I don't have spare funds for something like that. I'm thinking my next move will be Xenforo + a gallery built for that system then just import.

Then you'll be happy to hear xenForo now has an official gallery addon, if you don't already know ;)

As most users have different mean of "simple gallery" I'll appreciate if you can post here what are the "must have" for a "simple gallery" :)
eg For me a simple gallery does not even needs a seperate page for the photo. A photo list with a lightbox popup to show the full image is enought. From the other side I count as "must have" social sharing and a search form.

It got me 10 days more, but now is not just Photo Gallery but Media Gallery as it also supports YouTUBE videos and audio files. And it has a soooo nice interface :)
You can test it at:
