So I'm at a loss, I've looked everywhere and can't find decent instructions for newbies like me. I read the instructions in the Text attachment and it says:

2.2. Upload content of the upload folder into you forum root folder

Where is the root folder in the CPanel?

Also, does anyone know if I can install a logo anywhere besides my ad?

Thanks,

Questions/Problems regarding modifications/styles need to be asked in the modification/style thread. That is where the support for modification/style is - not out here in the main forums. Please note that if a modification/style is unsupported (or even if it says it is supported), you may be on your own if you chose to install it. :)

Well, ozzy, with all due respect, this is not exactly a modification question. It's a general question on how to install modifications in vB, and honestly, sending off such basic stuff to the addon creators is not going to score much points with them ;)

The forum root folder is the folder you installed your forum into on your server/webhosting service, i.e. the folder where all the vbulletin files reside.

Yes it is a mod specific question, different mods have different install instructions. So that is why it is best to ask in the mods thread. Who better to know how to install a paricular mod than the people that participate in the thread.

The developer does not necessarily need to answer the question, anyone can reply to the question in the mods thread.

But anyway the OP can also read this article on installing mods, https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=201864&highlight=Installing

We don't need to discuss this, but in my opinion, classifying
2.2. Upload content of the upload folder into you forum root folder
as an addon specific install instruction (in contrast to general vB usage or general vB addon installation procedures) seems a bit, well, how shall I put it, pettifogging to me. The exact same instruction can be found in the upgrade instructions if vB.

I agree with the politics to ask addon questions in the addon thread. It really makes sense, if the chances are better there to get a valid answer.
But the question "what is the vBulletin forum root folder" is really not of that category. The chances of getting a better answer in an addon thread is not better than here. If I know the answer, In such cases, I find it much easier and nicer to just give the answer instead of sticking to a policy that makes sense in general, but clearly not here. Especially if the actual answer is half the length of what you wrote, but of course, that's a copy/paste block. I don't like those, and in such cases sometimes it seems just better to not answer at all.

But as I said, that's just my opinion, and I know you for an extremely helpful guy!

how shall I put it, pettifogging to me.

pet?ti?fog?ging
/ˈpedēˌf?ɡiNG/
adjective
placing undue emphasis on petty details.
"I'm working on the broad business vision here, not pettifogging little details"

Thanks for the new word!

As for the root vbulletin folder, cellarius answered that above - it is the directory where you uploaded all your vbulletin files.

Added the word to my ever-growing vocabulary list on my desktop.

@Cellarius wins best word usage for the week. @Lynne dispenses the gold stars as I am but a mere padawan.

I don't know who you paid to install the mod, but it definitely wasn't vBulletin. We don't install modifications. We will install the vBulletin software for you (at a price), but we won't install any modifications or styles or change the forum in anyway for you.
