Hey peeps. Is there a mod or BB code I can install on my forum (4.2.2 p1) that will allow members to create footnotes/end notes in their posts? I'd like it to work with the tags [ note] [/note]. I tried searching through the existing mods, of course, but searching for "footnotes" isn't returning what I'm looking for, and "end notes" is too common a phrase to return anything meaningful.

Anyway, what I'm hoping to do is something like the following.

The member would post this:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. [ note]Sed ut perspiciatis unde omnis iste natus.[/note] Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris.

And the end result would look something like this:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.[1] Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris.

________
[1] Sed ut perspiciatis unde omnis iste natus.

Any ideas?

I've seen it as a feature on other not-as-good-as-vB forum platforms, so there's gotta be a way for us to create a similar function on vB. It's probably a simple BB code plugin, but alas, I can't write code -- otherwise I'd create it myself!

If anyone has any ideas for how to create this plugin, I'd appreciate it a ton.

Just wanted to bump this. I'd really love to have this feature on my forum.

Mods, coders -- any ideas?
