I could have sworn I made a thread about this already but I can't seem to find it :(

For quite some time now we've been having an issue with search results not returning the appropriate amount of results.

When someone clicks on a members name to open the pop up and clicks on "View forum posts" trying to find their posts, a seemingly random number of posts will display.

This varies so often between all accounts (members, mods, admins) that I can't figure out what's going on. Even the user that first brought this to my attention can sometimes get the correct amount of posts to show ... even on a member that wasn't returning the proper results just days before.

I have triple checked the settings in "message searching options" and I can't find any limits anywhere that would hinder search results.

One thing I have recently found out (like yesterday) is that one of our less experienced admins rebuilt the search index. Would that cause the issue mentioned earlier in this thread?

Have you tried disabling plugin via config yet to see if one of them is causing a problem

Ah thanks for finding it Force :) Honestly have no idea how I missed it searching for "all threads started by .... "

Yes I have turned off all plugins via config in the past. Had them disabled for two weeks in order to allow ample time to test.

I'm going to bring this up with my host, because as I go back through the threads on my forum about this, it wasn't noticed until after we moved.

The host (knownhost) cannot find any reason for the search to be wonky :( Now I'm back seeking ideas from the vB community :D

Maybe a link to your site might be the first step
