Another mod brought to you by,
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2015/01/1.png
This is a small mod that will allow admins to block registrations from users with multi dotted email addresses.
Original idea was asked by Snowhog (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=456065) in this thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=283497).
kh99 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=456065) provided the basic code for this to work. Then cloferb (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=330914) posted it as a mod here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=283540). Which was just basically a C/P of what kh99 posted in the other thread. So I have released this as a full blown mod, with settings for all the variables.
It is a simple installation, import the product XML, ozzmodz_max_dots_38
The settings for the mod can be found under, [OzzModz] Block Registrations With Spam Like Email Addresses Settings
Note: The error message they see when they exceed the maximum dots is this:
" Oooops, something went wrong with the registration process. Please check all fields again. "
I would not suggest changing it and saying something like, " you entered to many dots " or some such as this will just tip the spammers off. :)
Attention: If you are using this mod, Automatically deny registration for users with multi-dotted email address (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=283540) disable that plugin, or delete it, as it will probably conflict with this mod.
Complete Feature List
Option to disable the mod completely.
Option to set the maximum dots allowed. ( ala . ) I suggest no more than two dots allowed.
Option to set the maximum commas allowed. ( ala , ) I suggest no commas allowed.
Option to set the maximum semicolons allowed. ( ala ; ) I suggest no semicolons allowed.
Option to set the maximum colons allowed. ( ala : ) I suggest no colons allowed.
Option to set the maximum hyphens allowed. ( ala - ) I suggest one, but no more than two hyphens allowed.Frequently Asked Questions.
Q. Why do I need such a thing, you ask?
A. I have seen a rash of users joining sites, with multi dotted email addresses, and 99.9% of the time these are spammers, usually human ones. So by adding this you can prevent them from registering.

* It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified whenever new updates are available.
* For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention.
* Marking a modification as installed also helps me know how many people are using my work, giving me extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications.
I appreciate the support!
