Hi There,
I am having problems utilising the vb4 facebook plugin
I have followed the instructions here http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/facebook_enable and still every single time I try and use the feature I am faced with a redirect loop, I am not sure what the problem could be whatsoever, has anyone else faced this issue as I am stumped.
my site is at www.scoot.ie (may currently be down due to dns propogation)
I am not sure whats up but any help would be greatly appreciated, if you need any more info from me just ask, I have uploaded some screenshots of my facebook app
Thanks
edit: Enable auto register is actually turned on, it it just turned off there for testing, Auto register is actually one of the only features I am interested in using.

There is no "below screenshot". I also checked your forum and Facebook isn't enabled, so it's impossible to see what is going on.

Do you have any .htaccess in your directory?
When I click the Facebook link, I get asked for my facebook credentials.

there is a .protect folder with with a file inside called .pemhtaccess
I can get that far myself, however it is after I enter my facebook information, the facebook window closes and tries to redirect me and this is where I get the loop.

What are you talking about? .protect folder .pemhtaccess ???
What are these redirects? Do you have Vbseo or something similar installed? Can you post your htaccess here?

What is the hosting company you are using?
Did you try to delete the "n-mn.com" folder in the root of your website?

Hi there, I have purchased hosting through www.blacknight.ie.
I do not have an "n-mn.com" folder in my website root.
Like i say there is no .htaccess file however I have a .protect folder with a .pemhtaccess file inside, The file is empty. there is a .htaccess file, I dont have anything uploaded to the server apart from a standard vbulletin install

One minute you say there is no .htaccess, then you said there was one in the next sentence. Do you, or don't you, have an .htaccess file?

Login to Facebook and then go to your app settings page - https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=applications . Look for your Facebook app there > click to Edit it and make sure visibility is set to Public.

Lynne, I am getting an access denied message when I click that link, my profile tells me I am in the following groups:
Groups:
vb-registered
vb-license-members
jira-users
Just to clarify, I have no .htaccess file, that was an error on my part,
Thanks

Hi Lynne,
I still cannot see that image,
I have been told it is not customer accessible.

OK, I went to my own Facebook Settings > Apps page and clicked to edit my app and then is what it shows:
150343
Notice the app is public.
However, I have also been told that Facebook changed things on their side and any new apps that are made will not work with vB at this time. http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBV-13538

Ah, so it most likely wont work until facebook update things on their side?
Thanks Lynne, was clueless there for a while. That latest tracker link is basically my problem down to a tee.

I am not sure what is currently going on with new Facebook apps being submitted, but according to the tracker new apps submitted are allegedly using the new API (it's just a guess). vBulletin4 would have to upgrade to the new API to be compatible.
There is no official word (as of yet) that the Facebook code will be updated on vBulletin4 that I can find, there is only comments on vBulletin5.

I've been wracking my brain (and google) trying to figure out how to get fb connect to work on v4.2.2. I created an app, opened it to the public, added the information to fb options in fb admincp. when I enable the app in admincp, hit refresh on the browser, it gets thrown into a loop and the browser stops with loop error.
I tried to go to the vbulletin.com link but login is disabled at this moment.
Does this issue sound familiar to anyone else?
On a separate note for the fb app, what are the steps for the SDK in PHP? or the steps as it pertains to v4.2.2? Thanks.

Got on the vbulletin.com site and saw that fb will be discontinuing the use of their API on April 30, 2015. Does this mean that to get fbconnect or some variation to work, we would need to manually implement it per fb PHP SDK?

Unfortunately facebook has discontinued the API vBulletin 4 relied on. vBulletin 5 has been updated in 5.1.4/5. I don't know when/if any changes will get back ported.

And later on in that same thread....
Yes, it will be fixed at a future point before the final 4.2.3 is released.
