Is it okay to allow members to upload images?

Hi,

I wanted to know, if it's okay for allowing the member to attach the images in the threads?
Is it safe as hacking is concern?

I heard earlier that hackers can upload shell script etc even we only allow jpg , png and gif format to be uploaded by user?

Is this is the case?

Yes it is safe as long as you don't allow html for any groups
