Hi,

Tutorials on how to install a patch talk of installing the folders into the root directory.
There's nothing that says root directory, what's the modern term for root directory?

Inside the 3 folders of the patch, there's only a few files, if I drop them into this root directory, will they just load up the files into the corresponding folders?
the folders seem to have more files and i'm worried dropping in the whole folders of patches will replace the entire folder?

Sorry if I don't make sense.

If you installed vBulletin at /home/somedomain.com/htdocs/ then that is the root folder.
It will not replace the entire folder, it will append the files to the folder in case the folder exists already. (With Filezilla for example.)

Ok thanks, I didn't install it but seeing as though all I have loaded is the forum, I think i'm right now, I'm gonna give it a go anyway, i'll just drop the files in and see.

So long as it's going to just append that should be ok too, think when I do it once I'll understand it.

All done! Thanks again Dave, I didn't have any confidence to do it, thought my forum would get messed up and I wouldn't know what to do then.

I did have a shaky moment, after I dropped the patch folders in I went back to my forum to look and it said I left the Install folder so I had to go back and delete it.
it worked great after that, so looks like my patch is installed and i'm ok to go.
