Can someone please direct me to where the changes in the vBulletin 4.2.3 beta are?

Gary, what type of information are you looking for?
The only released notes are from vbulletin at this point and can be found on vBulletin.com. Better yet I usually snoop through tracker.
I personally am still sifting though the code. I have found some interesting stuff, but it doesn't really pertain to the average person running vBulletin.

Example:
postvars now implement JSON instead of serialize method.

I'm was curious as to whether or not there would be any additional features or fixes that would warrant upgrading. I realize beta's are just for testing but I was/am hopeful it will be of some benefit to upgrade when the beta is over.

It's all just bug fixes for php 5.5. If you want to upgrade to php 5.5 then I would load up 4.2.3, otherwise there's really no reason to upgrade.

See here for details: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum/vbulletin-announcements/vbulletin-announcements_aa/4085309-vbulletin-4-2-3-beta-1-is-available

That happened in 4.2.2 in one the PL's.

Features? No, security and bug fixes for newer versions of php? Yes.

Just to be clear on something else.

Like the releases of 3.8.8 (& 3.8.9), the 4.2.3 Beta will remain as a beta for a few months at least - there is no internal QA time for it, so it remains labelled as beta until such time as we are confident its stable, This will be measured by the number of 4.2.3 related bugs (or lack there of).

[That means bugs directly related to any change made in 4.2.3, not anything pre-existing.]

Thanks for the explanation Paul, just one question ....
For all the time I've had vb (2008) there is a feature I've always thought would be cool as heck. I've brought it up before but never got a response, who do I address this suggestion to in order to have the best chance of having it added officially or otherwise?

I'm no Paul but imo simply submit it in the tracker:
http://tracker.vbulletin.com/

Then gain as much attention to that tracker issue as humanly possible otherwise it may never gain any traction or even be considered.

Do you mean in vb5, or vb4, or vb3 ? If you mean vb3 or vb4, then I can pretty safely say it wont get added - vb3 is EOL anyway, and very little development is getting done on vB4, any that is largely to keep it going and security patches, not add new functionality.

That's what I've been thinking all along but a glimmer of possibility gave me hope :)

Maybe someone will build it as a plugin.
