View Full Version : Choosing between VB4 or VB5?

So I am starting a forum and am doing some research into what the best choice would be to run it. Now, I have experience as a moderator on another forum that used VB4. The idea of going for the newest version (which would be VB connect 5) of something sounds good in theory, however, after doing some research, it seems that many people do not like 5 and that it's full of bugs, etc. Is this still true, as I couldn't find much recent discussion, only from a year or two ago.

So as it stands right now, what would people recommend? Are people still not liking VB5 yet and running prior versions like 4?

I want to make the smart choice before I start spending all this time building a forum.

Thanks for all your help.

Do not use vb5 you will find vb4 is far better with less bugs

I really do not have much experience with Vb5 but from what I see and hear I think it still needs some improvement. I do believe it will have it's day and at some point be awesome but right now I think 4.2.2 is the best out there.

Yeah that's kind of what I was leaning towards.

VB 4.2.2 is the best current choice. Note- you buy a VB5 license regardless, you can use VB4 with a VB5 license.

I agree with this opinion, I also am using this version and tried to make it like vB5 at least is about forum theme ;)

How about now? VB 5.1.5 or 4.2.2?

Did 5.1.5 did enough to worth install over the 4.2.2 version?
