Over the last 24 hours, Googlebot encountered 67 errors while attempting to connect to your site. Your site's overall connection failure rate is 7.1%.
Any ideas what might be causing this?

Is this something i could fix with a mod like creating a 404 error page redirect or something?

When you click those link do you get 404 errors or do you still go through to the link?
Having some not founds is normal really especially is you have a large site. Google also still sees redirects as not found pages. In other words you may visit a link in the not found list and get to it fine but it will show in webmaster tools as not found.

I do not see anything in Ozzy's thread that should impact this at all.

Looks like most of them are from when we were running vB5. The downgrade to VB4 means the URL's have changed. Its been like this since January which hasn';t been a problem till now.

I would not worry about it. It is not many and most of those are probably re-indexed with the correct urls anyways.
If there are important ones though that you want to make sure work just do a 301 redirect
Redirect 301 /forum/kjhfwbfwbhf.php fulnewurl
