Hello,
Users of my board can not currently insert vedeo links. It has worked in the past but even previously working posts containing yourtube video links have broken. I had done some general cleanup and upgraded my insert picture .swf file recently and then noticed this situation. I am not sure what the root cause is but users can create normal txt posts in a forum and then the very same user can attempt (in that same forum) to create a post with a video link the post behaves like a broken link. It seems to me that if you preview the post it works fine but when you post and then the post would show each and every time it behaves like a broken link. As said even a post from last week that seemed to be working and showing the video now appears to be broken.
When you try and see the post it returns a page with errors that say:
"The page you requested is NOT AVAILABLE
A general error has occurred "

BTW the link and video still works and exists on youtube. Any ideas on what may have changed would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
JD

Disable your hooks/plugin system and retry on vBulletin default style. :)

I set Enable Plugin/Hook System = no and tried with the vB default style and the result is the same as described in the original post. Please let me know what you suggest trying next.

Thanks,
JD

Post a sample URL that is not working.

Are you receiving any errors in your server logs, especially your PHP error log.

The post with the title of Casey Ashley is EXACTLY the same as the post just below it:
It seems the longer subject lines with () or "" or just long MAY be the root of the problem. Supported by the two named Casey Ashley and This is a test both working.... VERY strange because I am sure the oldest post use to work when it was originally posted even with the long name and quotes. In the body of all of these the only thing in them is shown in the following image:
I guess it might seem like a have a workaround but users/posters will have trouble so any ideas are again welcome.

As for error logging I don't think I had that configured AKA all file paths/names were blank. I fixed that and There does not seem to be any logs being generated.

Thanks,
JD

What I am looking for is the link to the original video URL, so I can paste it on my own test board, to see what is up with it. Sorry, I can see where I confused you. :)

I was not able to simulate your problem. I tried to recreate your exact posts with similar long titles using equivalent syntax. Everything I did worked.

On your site I receive a 500 internal server error on the last three threads with the videos embedded.
Check your server's error logs - Internal Server Errors should be logging an entry.

Verify you are using all default files: Maintenance > Diagnostics > Suspect File Version.
Are you running suhosin or any type of mod_security?
Have you modified your .htaccess file or re-write rules recently?

[/ATTACH]As for the default files: Maintenance > Diagnostics > Suspect File Version.
Please see the attached zip; I would think that is in OK shape...

Are you running suhosin or any type of mod_security? I don't think so, is there an easy way you can describe for me that I can confirm it?

Have you modified your .htaccess file or re-write rules recently? I don't believe so is there an easy way I can confirm that for you?

How do I go about doing this? I looked for log files last night and even tried to set up paths and filenames for them to be written but no files have been found or created as far as I can tell. If you can confirm where I should look or point me to a how to about this I would be glad to learn and let you know.

Thanks for the help,
JD

Suspect files is fine... I would delete the attachment in your last post. :)

You may wish to talk to your hosting company about the server setup questions I asked you in the previous message. They can explain if you have access to the logs, and where they are stored for your setup. They can review your PHP configuration.

Can you be just a little more specific about what I should ask my service/hosting provider? They have always given me fairly good support but only whan I give them pointed specifiec questions about setup and configuration topics. A basic set of bulleted topic and questions to ask them would be ideal to use for the support call with them would be awesome and I will let you know the outcome.

I appreciate your time and assistance,
JD

My webhost found the problem and the situation is resolved. Here is what they said/did ": The issue was realted to the .htaccess file, the php version of your domain and your domains seems they are not fully compatible with php 5.3. It is now set it up to run php 5.2.17 and the domain is it up and running properly"

THANKS!!!!
