You'll have to excuse the prefix's i have picked but i couldn't find one that fit my questions.
I noticed on VB5 that there is a "like" option for posts. Doesn't facebook have a copyright or patent on that? While i do want a feature like that, i don't want to be dealing with facebook laywers.

There is a current lawsuit against FaceBook, claiming that FaceBook violated a patent by a Dutch programmer called Joannes Jozef Everardus van Der Meer. He was the creator of 'Surfbook'.
The vBulletin product uses a Facebook Api, so there should be no problem there. Other products that use or simulate the 'Like' button -- well lets just see what the courts say. I would guess this kind of case will be tied up in the courts for quite a while. Just my opinion. :)

Yeah, i did a search online after i got the "no" and found out about that guy. I believe patents last 17 years so that time is nearly up.
