HELP!!!
Long story short my host kept suspending my site because vbseo was trashing their server. So I followed the steps online on how to do it but Im still having a huge issue fixing my old links.

My site is set up domain.com/foum/

Old vbseo link is like the Mod Rewrite Friendly URLs.

This is the old showthread.
http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/horse-drawn-vehicles/51378-civil-war-rucker-ambulance.html

After removing vbseo the link looks like this.
http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/showthread.php?51378-Civil-War-Rucker-Ambulance

Old vbseo attachment link
http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/attachments/all-events/13082d1289342163-scalemotorcars-online-model-car-show-contest-dsc00001.jpg

The new link now displays like this.
http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=13082&d=1289342163

Right now Im using the Basic Friendly Url's and CMS and the Forum seem to be playing nice. Still all the links off Google error.

Im not sure if posting my rewrites here is a good ideal but I can if its needed.

Thanks in advance for the help.

There are third party addons to replace vBSEO, if you really want to maintain the links.

Thanks Zachery for the quick reply but I'm afraid I've been out of the loop for some time. Could you suggest a few. I would be very grateful. :)

Just be sure since my brain feels like jelly after all this. This is the old vbseo link structure.

Can I duplicate this with the mod you suggested?
And again thanks.....

The paid version of DBtech's DBSEO I believe even has conversion help. But you'd need to double check with them.

You can ask what you need on the forums (http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/forum.php) their support is 1st class

Well nuts I dont think thats going to work. I removed vbseo because of high server load and it seems DBseo isnt much better.

Isn't there a way to use rewrites to fix this?

If you're willing to write a TON of rewrites, sure. Manually.

So just how bad is it for my indexed pages and images if I just leave it as it is. Search engines will re index the links but correct me if I'm wrong its like starting over.

Search engines will reindex, true enough - but you'll lose any other links to your site. You should try to recover as much as possible.

Anyway, as far as I can see your URL structure is pretty standard, being forumname/id-threadtitle.html.

Try this for a rewrite:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule [^/]+/([0-9]+)-[^/]+\.html http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/showthread.php?t=$1 [L,R=301]

Thanks everyone for the help.

vBNinja came to the rescue and did an amazing job fixing all the issues we had. He was professional, fairly priced and got the job done fast. I highly recommend him...
