Additional Usergroup Promotions

I have some promotions set up to add users to an additional user group but the "Can override primary group title/markup" setting does not appear to apply for avatar settings etc.

Is there any way of doing this using the additional group without an addon? If not, does anybody know of an existing modification for this purpose?

Why should "Can override primary group title/markup" apply to avatar settings? It allows the user to choose a custom user title and use basic html in the process.

What do you want the users to be able to do to their avatars?
