hi

I haven't posted here in forever, but apparently someone is trying to use my account to post on this board because I keep getting a notice that someone is trying to log in and failing, thus locking my account.

that's fine by me and the person trying to hack into my account efu

I'd like to keep this account, but I would like to see more security options offered to users if they choose as an added feature to dissuade nefarious creeps from trying hack into this board under false pretenses.

is this possible, or would I be better off closing this account?

thanks

I think you need to read a few more posts mate. This was pretty much a site wide thing I think. Many people got those warnings..no biggie.

I've gotten two of these warnings in the last two days.

I got about a dozen last night... Maybe they should install some kind of plugin to prevent known IP addresses from SFS list?

Can you point me out to those threads? I did a search but can't find them. I've been getting emails all week and topped out with 10 this AM saying that I was locked out :)

Richie,

Perhaps it is you that needs to read a few more posts down. The user simply suggested increased security options to protect his account. I agree with him. I came here as a result of several days of getting multiple messages. I wanted to see if I was alone and learned that I am not. A group of people from different IP's IS TRYING to break in and in my book this raises my level of concern.

I *would* join JIS in asking if anything is being done but I don't want to read a public answer. I'll trust that the staff here is employing additional security measures. What I won't do is chastise JIS for voicing his concern. Doing so offers nothing of value to his honest question.

I think you might want to ask the user that opened the thread. But I wouldn't chastise him for voicing his concern. With so many attempts being made to break in wouldn't you agree that the OP's concerns are valid? We're all on the same side, gentlemen.

Why shouldn't you? That Email only tells you that you won't be able to log in for the next 15 minutes. Nothing else. It's a plain and simple (and efficient) strikes system.

Also, why you posted this in the vB5 forum escapes me.

You think so? Then you are being ignorant. We get them too, but we don't freak out.
