This problem has me baffled and has for a long time. I really cannot think of anything else to try.

When trying to edit/configure cms widgets the black box pops up and appears to load but eventually just disappears.

Here is what I have tried in order to fix it.

# - Disabled plug ins
# - Tried Standard urls/disabled htaccess
# - Uploaded fresh Vbulletin files and re-ran upgrade script
# - Have tried multiple browsers
# - Removed Plug Ins with possible connection

What am I missing here?

Thanks,
Rich

Have you tried disabling browser add-ons/plugins?

I have and I have tried other browsers as well.

I am going to try another computer in a sec just to be sure this is a site issue and not something on my pc.

Thanks!

## - I tried another pc and I still have the same issue. No addons or anything.

Thanks

You should let someone else try just to make sure

Thanks Force. There are only a few select people here I would ever let in and you are definitely one of them. Really appreciate it.

Still no go on this. Force had a look and Ozzy and I have been unable to figure it out for a long time.

I spent some time today uninstalling some of the plug ins I thought could be the culprit even though the problem persists with plug ins disabled.

I just do not get it.. options in the cpanel are correct, files are fresh..no errors. Is there anyone that can offer me some new insight on this. I am out of things to try.

I know people had this issue at times a couple years ago and it was usually related to a wrong domain setting or a plug in. This does not appear to be the case for me.

# - I found this strange table underneath the black box.

I still have not found a solution for this.

Here is a list of plug ins that are installed. Keep in mind I removed many of these already to test but nothing has worked. Also, disabling does nothing.

I need a genius here because this has already boggled 3 of us. This is not a paid offer but I am willing to donate a small amount to whom ever comes up with a fix or work around.

I set up this site on another domain on my server as a test site. I uninstalled every single plug in including the cms which I reinstalled. I re-uploaded all the fresh Vbulletin files and ran the installer again. I also removed all the widgets and tried a new one..

still no dice..

Next step is to set up a test site of a fresh copy of Vbull and see if that works.

The reason I ruled out the server as an issue is because a client has a 4.2.2 vbull site on my server with no such problems.

We will see what the default install shows..after that I am out of options.

I just got it!!! More in a sec!

So I installed the fresh copy of Vb on my test server in a sub domain off my main site. I did it this way because I thought perhaps it was a dns setting or a server setting under this domain. I mentioned how I have another Vb site on the server running fine. I ruled out server settings for this but I failed to see that the hosting settings for this particular domain had changed. I never changed these settings so I am really unclear as to how they changed but this was the issue.

Under this domain php was using cgi instead of apache module. This would have been fine but cgi was not configured yet seeing as I was not using it. Once I finally noticed this setting I changed it back to apache module and bam! So it took me many, many hours and all kinds of trauma and in the end it was something that took less then 30 seconds to fix.

I am now trying to figure out this got changed to cgi. The only thing I can think of is that one of the updates I ran somehow changed this. It baffles me though because it did not change on the other domains and it is default on the server to use apache module and not cgi.

Anyhow..finally I can edit and configure my widgets again! It has been a long time!

Thanks to those of you who went into the site and tried to help me troubleshoot it. This was really the last thing I would have suspected. Now I think I deserve a glass of wine. A big glass. :)

---------> Insert Jeopardy music.Too late for that brother. I was ready for the jump off a bridge suicide music but now I just need the relief music. :D I don't really care how it happened too much as long as it is working. If it happens again I will know how to fix it. I think I am going to just let it slide for now..The logs are all gone from that time period so there is not much I can do to track it down anyways.

Wow I would have never expected it to be the server, makes me feel a bit better, as I thought I overlooked something in the settings.

Glad you were able to finally figure it out. :)
