Image Resizing

I'm not totally sure what's going on however every time someone uploads an avatar it says "The Dimension limits for this filetype are 200 x 450. We were unable to resize your file so you will need to do so manually and upload it again. Your file is currently 500 x 750."

I've got GD, Freetype and all sorts installed on the server, apparently they all work so I'm not sure why it won't resize?

Vbulletin version: 3.8.7

Any ideas?

It now does this... instead of showing an error, but the image doesn't load at all.

Note I've also tried ImageMagick and that does the same.
