View Full Version : Mod Menu

I'd like a plugin to be made where a menu for moderators can access quick links around the forum without having to go in the Mod/Admin CP. Basically have a dropdown menu maybe at the footer and you'd be able to add links to the drop down and specify which groups can see which links.
Thanks! :)

I did take the time to search, and I didn't find what I was looking for, so no need to come off like that.
I'm wanting to add more than just moderation links, such as links to the Staff Forums and the like.

Bumping this. :)
I found this mod, but it's only for 3.
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=214396
It doesn't have the option to add links though, but I'm sure it could be done if updated.

Why not just add them yourself then using the Navigation Manager, that is what it is designed for. :)

So it won't matter what the version is listed as?
Would I have any issue adding new links then?

As long as you know the link location, there will be no issues.
Just make sure you put the following into the Show Permissions box for the link.
moderators.admincplink

I'm not seeing anything in the code for that, or am I supposed to be looking elsewhere?

When you add a link in the Navigation Manager, there is a field called, Show Permission Name
You add that in there.

No problem. :) Just make sure you look at the site as a regular member to ensure nothing is showing that is not supposed to.

Okay, I'm probably being annoying now, so sorry.
I'm trying to create a menu, but it says the URL is not valid(I didn't put one in).

I'm trying to add a tab. :)
ozzy47
02-17-2014, 03:47 AM
1) Create a tab. (enter any url to your board, like forum.php)
2) Create a menu for the tab.
3) Edit the tab and find the setting, "Target Menu" select the menu you just created, click on save.
4) Add links to the menu you created, these are what will show up as the dropdown items in the tab.

That is not how it works, you add the link to the subnavbar, or do it in a droptab. There is no way in the default script to add it to a specific forum.

So it has to be something built in to vBulletin? I couldn't add a forum link into the menu?

You can add a link to any page on your site via the Navigation Manager, or to any place on the web for that matter.

So where would one place the forum link though?
Example: http://blah.com/forumdisplay.php?4-testing

Title: My New Tab
Target URL: forumdisplay.php?4-testing
Active: Yes
Display Order: Where ever you want
Show Permission Name: As Discussed before
Append 'tabid' to URL: Yes
Tab Script(s): Leave blank
Open in New Page: Up to you

Do I add the new tab under the Forum Tab?
And then I tried to add a new menu, and either way it didn't show up. I'll shoot you an account, but not sure why it's doing this since I'm trying to finish up some much needed work on my forum.

Wait, what, you confuse me.
You said you were trying to add a tab, but what you are describing is adding a link to the sub navigation.
Perhaps take a screenshot of where you want the item to show up. Also do you want the item to be a dropdown, or a single link.
Perhaps this will help you understand the process, http://www.vbulletin.com/vbcms/content.php/810-Navigation-Manager
Also note try this out on a unmodified default style.

Okay, so I'm wanting to add a drop down menu that will continue links to various Staff Links on the forum.

Then that goes back to these instructions:
1) Create a tab. (enter any url to your board, like forum.php)
2) Create a menu for the tab.
3) Edit the tab and find the setting, "Target Menu" select the menu you just created, click on save.
4) Add links to the menu you created, these are what will show up as the dropdown items in the tab.

I did all of those, and for some reason it still won't appear. I'm sorry if I'm becoming a nuisance. :(

Sorted on the users site.
At some point, vBulletin must have changed the permission call from moderators to modcplink (or I was dreaming again)
So the perms should be, modcplink.admincplink
