I posted my first thread today. After hitting Submit, I saw the message that it would be reviewed before being posted.
How long does it usually take to be reviewed?
Yes, I have looked at my profile and selected to search all my new posts and threads - nothing.

course, if this area is also under review first, I may see the other first :)

It's now approved. It takes until someone notices it and approves it, which varies. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks kh99. I looked through the FAQ, but couldn't find anything.. i thought maybe I did something wrong. I know that it's hard to watch a forum every second.

You didn't do anything wrong. Some posts are put in the moderation queue automatically based on words that appear often in spam posts, but I read yours and couldn't tell what would have triggered it.

You should be able to post in an open help forum. If you continue to have issues, please start your own thread and be more specific about exactly what section you are trying to post in.

So if first posts are put into moderation why are spam bots not getting moderated. But if only based on some words would it not make more sense to put all first posts into moderation

It depends on what was in the post, some words trigger it, some don't.

Needs to be made that the first post is moderated not triggered by words

We don't want to moderate first posts. We are only moderating posts that have certain key words in them. There is a lot of spam that you never see because it is moderated (and then deleted).

It doesnt need to be made that way at all. :)

There is nothing worse when joining a new forum than to find that when you post, your post gets moderated, its very irritating. It's unfortunate that this happened to starl, it seems they just happened to trigger the spam detector.
