I have this weird problem where users can't search any given thread. They always get 0 search results found. When I try to empty the search index and rebuild it, it sorta fixes the problem, but still doesn't search correctly. When a new thread starts, though, it still gets 0 search results found. Any idea how I can go about fixing this?
tyia for any help
In the admincp options under Message Searching Options, if you have "Queue Search Updates" set to yes, then the thread won't be indexed until the scheduled task runs. You can manually run the "Search Queue Updates" scheduled task to see if that's your problem.
I just noticed on my test vb4.2.2 installation, the default has hour set to 5, which would mean it would only run once a day.

Omg! This worked thank you so much! A lot of my members depend on thread search so this is good.
One last question, should I disable queue search updates? or just set the scheduled task to be faster

To be honest I'm not sure, it probably depends on how busy your site is and what kind of server it's on. I suppose it's safer to leave it set to queue and to increase the number of times the task runs, if that works for you. You could also try turning off queuing and see if things seem to work OK like that.
Someone else might know more, or you could post the question at vbulletin.com (or search there to see if it's been answered already).
