I have a quick mod registration and the standard registration also is active on the board. Any reason to run both? Pro's con's... or just pick one due to redundancy?

I've turned off standard registration on a couple new VB 4.x forums and it seems to have cut down on spam to only use the "really fast" registration mod I made.

Thanks! That is the mod I am using. How do I shut off the standard reg and will the glow host spam not work, since I assume it is not linked to your mod? Thanks again!

In Admin CP -> Settings -> Options -> User Registration Options, the first option I believe is "Enable Registration?" Turn it to "No."

You should also modify the default guest notice (also in Admin CP under "Notices") that tell guests to register and give them a link to register.php. Edit the notice so it tells guests to use the quick registration form above (or below) wherever the notice shows up on your site.

I suspect glowhost will not work with my mod, I never used it or tested against it however.

BOP - not sure I understand the part about "tell guests to register and give them a link to register.php". Since if the really fast registration is present why do I need a link to register? Maybe I am missing something. Please let me know. Thanks.

Yes, you're missing the context of what you quoted. That part is why you're to turn off the default guest notice - because you don't need it.

View your site as a guest- there is (or should be) a notice vBulletin shows to all guests telling them to register.

You should either edit or disable that notice- personally I would choose to edit it and provide better information since the link to register.php it has will no longer work.
