Ok, so I'm trying to setup/run my vbulletinn forum in a somewhat minimalist way...

I disabled blogging right away and I'd like to make Articles disappear for now

I was able to the articles tab go away pretty easily, but promote to article and other such references are seemingly woven into the vb forums

Are articles something I should suck it up and utilize?

I'm starting up a pretty focused regional special user group and based on past building of many online communities, back before the Facebook founders were even born!

I just feel the need to minimize the content being created to just the forums and the Drive Thru Garage photo gallery, which although it has it's issues, it's as if I had a custom photo gallery written from scratch for my current project...

So are there a couple of checkboxes I'm missing to make articles and article related options go hibernate?

Just go to your addon section in AdminCP and disable the CMS addon (as, presumably, you did with the blog addon? How else would you have disabled it?).

I was concerned that if I disabled cms I would be breaking other functionality

Specifically thinks like the drive thru Garage program

I have no idea how that addon works, but if you want to get rid of the CMS completely, you have to turn it off. Why don't you just give it a try?

Ok

Thank you

ok so I have the Articles option disabled for now...

not sure if its related or a coincidence, but a third party program that I had installed and it was working fine, and now it disappeared!

basically its gone from the TAB's

all of its info is there in the Administrators controls just fine, I just can't find where to add it back to the list of TAB's...

its called Clubs from Drive Thru

Then you need to ask at that program's support place. Turning off CMS is standard procedure, there even is a vB4 version completely w/o the CMS. If that makes another addon vanish, that's an issue of that addon.

I have the, the owner is having some personal medical problem and is unable to do much of anything right now

I hope he has a good recovery

I only asked on here because I thought I might have turned it off in someplace that I don't know about, or as a side effect of turning off the articles
