That is really strange, are these users actually verifying their email?

Just enabled this again. Will see what it does. I've had one registration since enabling it and did not get the error.

One thing that it didn't do though. The message did not link the new users name to his profile.

OK...I see where it has to be setup in the control panel. I don't fully understand it though. It says:

$username = The username of the member who joined.
$url = The base url for your site, ie: http://www.MYSITE.com
$bbtitle = The title of your site set in vboptions Site Name / URL / Contact Details

Should you want the username to link to the profile use this, $username ($url/member.php?u=$userid2)

Does it pull the $URL from my board settings or do I need to enter that info. Example, would I put [url=http://mysite.com/forum/member.php? u=$useid2.........etc?

ozzy47

Just as it says, $username when it is actually posted would be the nname of the user that joined, and clicking on that name would lead you to their profile.

It does auto pull the url of your site.

Well, still getting the error. I have no idea how to fix it so I guess I'll just disable it. Sorry.

If you want me to try and debug it on your site, you could PM me admin account.

Can anybody tell me how to add the new users location to the title bar.

At this time, I have it configured to say something like Please welcome our newest user, John Doe.

I would like it to add their location, Please welcome our newest user, John Doe from Texas. or wherever.

ozzy47
11-11-2014, 05:21 PM
That is not available at this time. I think it would require modifying of the code, to grab the specific profile field and use it in the title.

I guess I'll have to give up on this one. I have been unable to figure out what is causing this problem but it hasn't gone away I had a welcome thread mod on my 3.8.7 forum and never had an issue. I've disabled other plugins, changed it to post thread before email activation, turned off TapaTalk in app registration. I don't know what to do. Would love for this to work but it just isn't for me.

Yeah I don't know why it is not getting the user id, with over 100 installs of this, no one else has reported the issue.

5 stars. With a little tweaking this did exactly what I wanted it to do. ^^

Excellent glad to hear, and thanks for marking as installed. :)

What was it you tweaked?

Well, I basically edited it so that instead of a welcome thread, it posted information from the registration page. Our site used to have a 2 step system: register, then fill out an application form. We were able to combine the two so that the application was part of the registration page, and your mod would automatically post the application for them. It's saving a lot of hassle and increasing the number of people we can retain. ^^

I am just getting finished on the the upgrade of my site from VBulletin 3.8 to 4.2.3. I posted today asking my members what the new version is missing that we had before. The number one response was that the Welcome Thread no longer says where the new member is from. My old welcome thread was a version of the old one here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=91887&page=29

No over the next few days, as soon as I get time, I will be working on integrating the location of the user into this one. Otherwise, this is a great mod.

Just installed and on my first user registered with it in place I got this:

Hmmm, there was another user that was getting this, and I was not able to figure out what the issue was, as it is random, and no way to reproduce it reliably.

I notice in the error, that is says your username, what was it you were doing when you got that error?

dknelson
11-29-2014, 10:55 AM
I hate to mention it again but I'm STILL getting this error. Got it twice last night. I'm totally baffled since I have uninstalled the mod because of it.

ozzy47
11-29-2014, 10:56 AM
Like I said before, that makes absolutely no sense what so ever, as that is run via a plugin, and by uninstalling the mod, there is no plugin to run that.

It is certainly a strange one.

Ozzy !!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ! LOL ..

So I too go the following error which from the time stamp suggests that this was triggered when the member clicked on the link to activate his/her account from the email sent to them ...

I just upgraded to the latest version of this Mod because someone updated their email last night and I forgot you had fixed that bug in the latest version ....

I also triggered this error by clicking on the link under the "Script" line and it sent me another identical error but this time with my username and IP of course since I was already logged into the site ...

Hope this helps you nail this down ...I might have to downgrade to the prior version so can you please take a look to see what is causing this ?

I did have 15 other new accounts registered and this one was the only one to trigger this error ....

Can you PM me the full unedited DB error, so I can see it in full? I just don't understand why I have never got this error on my site yet.

No not at all, I just wish I knew what was causing it, so I can fix it. I hate having anyone get any errors using my mods. :)

Hello.
Yesterday I installed this mod, I want that, automatic reply only in one forum (the forum or presentations), and only want reply like post to a news threads opens for the users.
I configure like this:
Post As A New Thread? No
Posters ID (My userid)
Forum To Post To (I select the forum)
Post ID (I select ID1 because I want the reply are just after of first post in the new thread)
Welcome Thread Open? No
Sticky Thread? No

And not works.

I create news threads in this forum, but this mod not "auto reply".

I configure some bad?

In other question, I view that in admincp -Welcome Thread/Post - Tittles and Messages Settings, have a 10 threads/posts, use all random?

Thanks and regads.

I have mine set up to post as a new thread in a forum...but for what you want you might want to try it like this :

Thread ID: the id to the thread

Post ID: (leave blank) this will only post as a reply to a post and not as a new welcome to a thread which is what I assume you want....they are both very similar but you want to post as a new welcome post in a thread as they are coming in ...

gnrx
12-21-2014, 12:44 AM
Thanks CAG

But I don't understand very well...

I can't type Thread ID because I want that, auto reply at the new create threads for the users with her welcome, then, I want this mod autoreply at this new thread like reply/post.
I typpe Post ID 1, because I want the autoreply, post after at first post of new user.

Yes, I want this, auto post as news welcome post/reply in a threads that they are open with her welcome.

Sorry if I don't explained very well.

The post id (1) means it's actually looking for post #1 in your whole forums ..I doubt that is the post you want to actually post to as it might not even exists any longer ..

If you post the link to the post or thread you are wanting this to go into I can make sure you are using the correct ID ...I am not so sure you are actually using the correct ID here ...

gnrx
12-21-2014, 12:59 AM
The post id indicate:
"Post ID is the id number of the post you are replying to if you choose to post as a reply to a post."
I understand (and its possible that I understand bad) that, this option, is for now at what post ID reply this mod.
For this reason, I type POST ID 1, because I want that, this "auto reply" are just after of first post of the thread.

I canl post the link, but the subforum, I have a subforum for welcomes, in my site, the recently users, go to this subforum and are presented, in this new thread that open user for are presentend, I want this "auto reply" for welcome.

This is the link (http://www.forocable.com/foro/forums/31-Presentaciones) to subforum, but like coment, I want this "auto reply" to all new threads that open the users after her first post in this subforum.

Thank you very much for your attention and help!

Ah I see what you think this does...I think ...

So you want the welcome to post after the first post of every persons new thread right?

This doesn't do that if that is what you want ...what it does is posts the welcome to a certain post which is why you putting ID 1 is not going to work ... the set up you have is looking for post id # 1 in that whole forum and you don't have any post that has the ID # 1 ...I see post ids with the numbers like 503072 which is this post here:

http://www.forocable.com/foro/threads/82872-Saludos!?p=503072#post503072

Ups, I don't understand very well like works this mod.
Tahnks for your reply.

So you want the welcome to post after the first post of every persons new thread right?
Yes, I want this, isn't possible with this mod?

I understand your explanation about the post ID.
For works like I want, I need a post ID, for example, 503072? And all new threads in this subforum, "autoreply" this mod?

But in admincp. this:
Forum To Post To

Select the forum you want the new thread to be in.

This is the forum you wish the thread to be posted to if you choose to post as a thread.
If you choose to post as a reply to a thread, then it should be the forum the thread you are replying to is in is posted in.
This last I don't understand very well.

I think at this hour of the night here, I have a good head cocoa...

Regards.

Crud, I will look into this in the next day or two, as that is now three users reporting the error.

Do you make members verify their email before they become full members?

Yes, the users need email activation for are full members.

ozzy, do you know if this mod works like I want like I indicate 2 or 3 replys above?
I'm a bit intrigued by this, I do not know if its can set for it or not, if I have properly configured ...

Thanks.

Oops, would consider adding in the future?

Now I configured the mod for open new thread for welcome new users, the 10 threads are in [OzzModz] Welcome Thread / Post For New Users Titles And Messages, are used random?

Thanks.

I don't know about adding functionality like that, it is something I don't think would work out to well.

Yes, the messages should be random, between the 10. It is not exact, but it is the best way to do it. :)

Ok, thank you very much ozzy47.
I try with my new config, for open new thread when a registered user, I view if I have the same error with database.

I think that, are a mod with send pm to new user, this mod with the mod with pm to new message, its possible a good idea... :)

Sending email and/or PM to new users is already built in vB. So there's no need to make mod for that.

This mod announces to public (or private, depending what you want) audience registration of new members. And of course, welcomes them also. Some users like very much that.

Thanks, yes, I use this mod little time and users like very much.
