[OzzModz] Classifieds, has won MOTM for December 2013 Mod of the Month! (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=305214)

First off this mod, [Chris] Classifieds (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=297847), has been taken over by me. It did belong to Christos Teriakis (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=443531). He has since given me full rights to the mod, so I am releasing it here. Only thing I have changed as of yet is the title, added the link and changed some template names, so it is basically the same mod. To upgrade from that mod is the same as any other time, unzip the files, load them to your server, overwriting the old files, then import the new xml. Please remember, this mod is as new to me as anyone installing it, so we are both on a learning curve. :)

1.- What's this mod?

Is better to say what it is NOT. For those who have used MarysClassifieds, I can say that they are 2 products which you can't compare. MarysClassifieds had dozens of features, but when I installed in my site I realized that I need only 10% of those features. Maybe less. This is slimlined Classifieds. A minimalist version of MarysClassifieds, but I bet that 70% of the webmasters will find this one more pretty, more usefull.
It supports 4 types of Classifieds:
For Sale
Wanted
For Trade
Free Offers
Supports unlimited categories
Supports Extra fields (but not searchable)
Has PM templates for:
PM user when admin approves his Classifieds
PM user when admin rejects Classified
PM seller when a user Makes an Offer
PM seller when a user clicks Buy it
PM seller when a use uses the contact form
Supports 5 statuses:
Open
Hidden
Reserved
Expired
Sold
Please note that unlike my old mod, here nothing is automatic. The seller has to take care to switch between statuses.
There are listings for:
Category classifieds
Timeframe (What's New) Classifieds
Seller Classifieds
Search Results
In view Ad page the visitor can see also:
Other classifieds from the same seller
Similar classifieds from the same category
In all pages there are available the follow blocks having the appearance of widgets:
Category Menu
Search Form
Statistics
Latest classifieds
Popular classifieds
Soon to expire classifieds. 2.- How you can make (a bit) money with it.

Using vBulletin's Subscriptions Manager you can set subscription which will upgrade the subscribers to a higher usergroup with more privileges in SL Classifieds. eg:
To restrict post in specific categories. The system works such a way that for each category you can set who can post:
All usergroups
None usergroup
Specific usergroup(s)
To allow more days for postings. eg usergroup A can set a maximum of 15 days before the Ad will remove from the system, while usergroup B can set the Ad's duration for 45 days etc.
Concurrent Ads. eg Register users can have only 1 active ad, while your VIP usergroup can has 5 ..or 10 ... or whatever you want.
More photos per Ad.3.- Installation
Download and unzip the file Classifieds_XXXX.zip
Upload the content of upload folder to the directory where your vB installation is. As a check: classifieds.php must be on the same directory as global.php, forum.php etc. Classifieds won't outside of vB installation directory.
CMOD 777 the directories:
christeris/classifieds/photos
christeris/classifieds/photos/thumbs
christeris/classifieds/photos/tmp
Goto Admincp and import product-classifieds.xml. Double check before if you have another product with the same name.
Set the various settings in Classifieds->General settings
Set usergroup permissions
Check and modify if you want PM templates.
Set categories
Set Extra fields (in case that you want them).4.- SEO URLs
If you're using vbSeo open the file Classifieds_vBSEO_Custom_Rewrite_Rules.txt and add them to your vbSeo installation.
If you're using .htaccasse file copy the contents of htaccess.txt and add it to your current .htaccess files. If you don't have such file and your server is compatible with such files, upload htaccess.txt to your vB directory and rename it to: .htaccess5. CMS Widget / Forum Sidebar Block for Latest Classifieds
Shows latest 5 Classifieds
If you want to change the number to another value change at 1st line: $maxitems = 5;
Installation as CMS Widget
Goto Admincp-> vBulletin CMS-> Widgets
Click "Create New Widget" at the list bottom
Set Widget Type: PHP Direct Execution
Give a Title which appears at the widget. eg Last Classifieds, or.. Last 5 Classifieds etc
Click SAVE
Find in the list the new widget and click configure at the right side
Replace the example code, with the code from Widget_Latest_Classifieds.txt
Click Save
Goto Layout and add it in any section you want
Click Save (Layout)
Installation as Forum sidebar Block
Goto Admincp-> Forums & Moderators -> Forum Block Manager
Click Add Block
In the next screen "Select block type: Custom HTML/PHP"
Click Continue
Title: Latest Classifieds
Content Type: PHP
Content: Copy & Paste the code from Widget_Latest_Classifieds.txt
Click Save. The block will be now visible to your forum sidebar -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What does 'Marking As Installed' do ?

* It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified whenever new updates are available.

* For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention.

* Marking a modification as installed also helps me know how many people are using my work, giving me extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications.

About Chris classifieds; there was a lite version and a special edition (SE) with extra features
We paid $75.00 to get the SE package, is this the lite or the SE?

Happy to see the update for 4.2.2 but I want to know the answer to know if we can update without loosing any feature.

There is also a file popupmenu_css.txt. Has instructions on how to add a stylevar to popupmenu.css

AFAIK there is no issues with vB4.2 and this mod. Also all of DBTech's mods were updated to work with 4.2

I would upgrade from Christos mod to this one though, it is the same mod, just supported here now.

I mean there no online payment by it, right?

I upgraded to your version and had to change the tab classifieds to point to ozzmodz_classifieds.php was still pointing to old file classifieds.php and replaced the entries for the htacces file that was pointing to classifieds.php

I use the same mod for breadcrumbs and have same issue with reviews as classifieds just never looked into it! hope you can find a fix.

I would like to be able to determine the usergroup of the person who posted an ad so that I can use a conditional to show a status based on the posters usergroup. Is there a way for me to do this?

I should be more specific. I want to be able to show a posters status based on a secondary usergroup they are in. I want to do this within the classifieds_view_item template, as well as the classifieds_categories_bit template, and the classifieds_browse_bit template also.

Any help with what conditional would work would be great.

Something is wrong.

I configure a category but the plugin link me to forum.com/classifieds/1/category.html

But this path is not valid (there is no folder called classifields...)

If i want to change the breadcrumb-name, there are no changes. Maybe a bug?

Other problem: If i click on an item and then on a category, it will link to the Breadcrumb-name (forum.com/auctionhouse/)

was there ever a thought to making it where members could comment? So if somebody has a question about the item for sale, instead of having to PM them and the seller answering multiple questions they could converse through the posts?

In my experience, its easier for the seller to answer a question once then have to answer the same question a dozen times in PMs.

The name/id logo is reserved for the theme-logo.... Any idea how i can solve it?

You can already do this with Classifieds, in the options, make sure, Forum Postbit is set to Yes.

Then maybe the button will show in the form like it is supposed to.

Have a issue with All Classifieds page showing up after installing your version. Both side bars are displayed but title All Classifieds and any ads do not show works correct in categories.

I reinstalled orig mod chris's version and is working correct now let me know what you think.

They should be on lines, 154,155,527,528,897,898,1091,1092,1352,1353

Then view a item and see if the Expires on: Bla Bla Bla changes.

glad you took over this MOD.

I am in the early stages testing this and looks good for most parts.

I noticed following problems:

When I click on "Buy it" in the ad it links to (replaced my real domain with mydomain.com):
"http://mydomain.com/V4backup/forums/#" and I get a blank page.
Tested it with Chrome, Firefox and Opera

Also when I try to post a "for Sale" the editor doesn't show up to fill in the "Classifieds Details" in Firefox and Chrome but does in Opera

It is supposed to put /forums/# in the URL, cause it is a popup box that is supposed to appear when you click on it. I tested this on all major browsers and it is working correctly.

Ok I think I got what I needed (thanks to Christos). Give me a few days to get it added. I am working on some other stuff ATM.

The way it will work, there will be a new setting, that you can choose which groups are PayPal verified, so when someone in those groups posts a classified, the verified image will show in their listing. :)

I tried both of them. The vbseo one causes it to not be found. When I use the non vbseo one, the url is correct (matches the title) but when you click on it you get the "page not found"

Strange it is working on sites that never had vBSEO, it is quite possible it is coded that way, so if the vBSEO stuff is there, it won't work.

Nono, it?s up to me to say thanks. You?re doing all the work - I?m just another happy enduser ;)

But - if you have a look into the files.. Keep an eye on the forums side block. I doublechecked my settings, doublechecked your code which seems to be pretty fine, but it?s not updating the block now for the last 24 hours (and quite a few classifieds have been posted since). I have no idea whats causing that problem. But I guess - or hope - you?re wearing thicker glasses than me :D

A couple of questions for you. I love your mods btw and I think they have great potential.

1. Can it be added where we can see how many times that ad had been viewed?
2. Can there be a quick reply box at the bottom to make it easier for people to ask questions AND easier to get them to engage?
3. Social media - there is a facebook like button but what about a "share this" button where the member can post it on somebody elses fb page in case they know of somebody looking for that particular item for sale and a way they can email it to somebody?

Not being critical at all, I love your work and want to throw out the things I see that work really well with other things.

Sorry boss....the actual form fields for the posting form. When you post a new classified ad....not the "title" field, but the description for the title field.

Could you please create and PM me with a temporary FTP and AdminCP account?

For security reasons, we recommend you create a new FTP account only for OzzModz support, then disable or delete it after we have both confirmed the issue has been solved and there are no further issues.

I myself have continued to try and get something to work but have failed across the board and this is the last thing I am waiting on before I can release my classifieds for use. Ozzy found the solution and I want to share it.

What causes this error is the setting, PM From Userid in the [OzzModz] Classifieds Settings you have the userid as the default 1, when that user does not exist.

I added my admin userid to the setting, and was able to successfully delete a classified.

It looks like the "Item Extra Field"-Option doesn't work right (or I don't understand it).

I can't find a directive/template that seperates the checkbox/dropdown/radio buttons in the template. Only for LongText.

So if I wan't to use a checkbox/radio menu it only shows one line with a checkbox, but ignores the "Separate each option with a new line"

No there has been no block created for that. Perhaps you can follow the steps for creating a CMS widget or a Forum Sideblock and use that code.

You could try adding the SHARE button in the classifieds_view_item template, around the same place as the Facebook button.

My members have a couple of suggestions for improvements that I wanted to pass on:

First, there should be a notifier right in the Classifieds tab above showing when there are new items being offered.

Next, a view counter in the ads themselves. This would help the seller gauge the interest in their item and would also show potential buyers if the item is attracting a lot of attention, possibly spurring them to make a decision to buy before someone else buys it.

Finally I believe that comments and clarification should be allowed to be posted. Many times other members here know details of a piece of machinery better than the seller does or they have personal experience with the item.

Also category block on the left should be able to retract back to its original collapsed state. So far if you click on the category and it has multiple subcategories it stays opened with no option to collapse it.

Suggestions:

1. Flashing NavBar "Classfieds" tab when there are new classifieds since user's last visit.

2. Show how many views each classified ad has.

3. Allow questions about the item and responses (like on Ebay)

Hey ozzy47 you writing all this down? I noticed in another thread you weren't sure how to move forward with this particular add-on with now two other classified that are more advanced. One thing that attracted me to christos mods was he styled them to fit into the cms so they blend into the site an not look like an add-on someone just added in. So in the future of your mod I think you should keep it small an simple, add the basics to give people a functional classified. Keeping the style can be the niche to set this apart from the others. Maybe looking into how adding ebay sellers integration, but not turning this into a store front.

1. ability to hide the price field everywhere.
2. auto expire ads after xx days.

Any idea what would cause the usergroup permissions to not work? I have it set so regular members can only have 2 maximum concurrent ads, but when I'm testing this with a user account I can make as many as I want to.

This mod would be great to use also for a monthly contest ( kinda showcase) , but we are already using this mod for our marketplace. I dont want to overwrite the classifieds I already installed.

I have removed the right column since our template is so narrow, we think it looks better without.

Right now we do not Classified open to the public because we are building it up.

I send my admin tasks in a PM to you.

Then we have problems with the design of classified not follow our design, must be set manually trim it.

Finally, I discovered that if you placed a bid on a non-priced ad so visible they are not if you click on the menu "My bid"

Unfortunately, the page in Swedish ;-))

If a user is set to the ad will expire after 2 days, should it not disappear automatically?

I am looking to get rid of "shipping" and "you are" fields. It looks like they are not required, is it possible to just hide them from being displayed if I can't disable them?

I would also like to have ads not expire and remove mention of it - is that possible?

Lastly I would like to change the order the fields are displayed. For example, I added a custom field for "size" which is showing up below all of the default fields, after the payment and shipping fields, but I would like it below the title. Is that possible?

I believe when something is deleted, it removes everything, not sure if there is a cleanup ran on expired items though, if there is it is probably a cron job.

Sorry to be a pain, but I am kind of desperate for this. I have a couple people starting to post classifieds, but they are getting zero views because my members don't know they are there. I need something on my main page to draw them in.

vba gives you the option of making a BB code, template or php module. I tried a template one and in the template I copied the contents of the mod's classifieds_rightside template since that is basically what I am trying to pull into the module. But it is not working, the module is blank. Obviously I am missing a piece of what I need to do, but I am at a loss as to what. I also use an articles mod for recipes and have a vba module for that which pulls the latest 5 recipes, so I tried to copy that module to work for classifieds, but it is php and when I look at the php file I have no idea what I should be changing.

If I don't get this figured out soon, then I am going to lose anyone from using my classifieds section. I need this modules or for the classifieds to show up with new posts or something to let people know they are there.

I have set so that the ads be discontinued after 90 days, but it does not work, the ads will be canceled immediately, see the attached picture what it looks like in the database.
