Ozzy, is it Christerous's old mod? He actually gave me a copy a long time ago and I still use it though it is a bit buggy.
If this is the one and you want some help working the bugs out let me know. I have been using it a long time.

While you wait for Ozzy a good way to easily send out newsletters to your members is to install a mod here that allows your email sent directly from your site to be html. You can make a simple html page using html or Dreamweaver, etc and then just paste the html into the email in the users section in the admincp, pick the usergroups you want to send to and bam.
I still do this a couple times a month even though I have the other script. It is pretty quick and easy.
I will try to find the html mod and post the link.

Christos, That's right. lol
Cool, shoot me an email when you have time and I will explain some of the bugs it has and some of the ones I have fixed. It is a great mod though and definitely has potential.

Hey Ozzy - I've been looking for a good newsletter mod for awhile now. I used a 'pro' version of one on my old 3.8 board, but it was so buggy, I'm not willing to pay for his vb 4 version. You are a saint for all the great mod work you do here. Any idea when you might have this mod ready for use? I would be glad to pay you to get it tweaked/perfected. PM me if interested.

Sorry nothing yet, been a busy season at work, due to all the bad weather.
Just remember: there is no "bad weather", Chris - only improper clothing :D
Thanks for the update

In the meantime it is very easy to create a basic html newsletter and then install the mod here that allows html to be emailed. Then just send it through the built in Vbulletin system
If you are not good with html you can use something like Dreamweaver. Newsletters should be fairly simple and to the point anyways. Some text a picture or two and a heading at the top under your logo and bam..good to go.. Oh yeah, also include instructions how to unsubscribe and you are set.
This is what I use for html emails..works fine for me on 4.2.2
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=232687
Just paste your html into the box in the Vbulletin email system and pick your usergroups and send..

The mod should have a few features, including the ability to integrate the forum's header without a lot of work (which was in Chris' mod- you had to make your own html). It should be able to just capture the header. The unsubscribe link should work in the user's profile so the user can easily unsubscribe.

I have been using Commbull pro, but after it didn't seem to mail out this morning, I am concerned. I would like one that has someone keeping it up to date and supporting it.
Thanks

I don't know why there doesn't seem to be any interest amongst coders to get this done, given that there is a lot of interest and many would be happy to pay for a great newsletter mod. But I guess it is what it is :) I don't seen any indication that anyone is working on one.
I'm going to bite the bullet and hire a group I trust to code this for me. Good luck to you all.

I would love to have an updated newsletter mod.
I'm using the old one that someone mentioned earlier, but it's buggy and I don't think the unsubscribe feature works etc.
I would love something that still allows me to use custom HTML, so I can design the look and feel. But also allows me to pull in recent threads, popular threads etc.

Doesn't seem to be any interest in this type of mod.
Does anyone know if the old one that used to be posted here, ever got any updates?
I still have it installed (I can't even remember who created it), it works but would really like to see some updates to it.

Depends on which one it is. There have been a couple of them posted on here in the past.

Yes but you have been wanting to finish this one for over a year and have a ton of people who need it. A couple hundred bucks might motivate you to make it a priority. Nobody better than you at rewriting these things for us.

I'll contribute something too, I really need a good/working newsletter mod.
I get complaints on the one I'm using that it doesn't obey the 'do not send emails from admins'.
So I'm hesitant to use it now, since people get testy over that type of stuff.

@ozzy47
Seems that the "spam-phobia" that many webmasters have, disallows even normal registrations. What's the meaning of "The system you are using is not allowed to register on this site.." when I'm trying to signup in your site? I've used FF, IE, Chrome, even Opera.
In anycase just a note. ChrisTERiS Newsletter works fine, for at least 5 people that I know (including me). Here is an example from a newsletter (even if it's just a season greetings) that I got some days ago. See the copyright at the bottom to validate that it was sent by that mod.

Actually what is your useragent string?

....lol....lol....lol......... Who thought such anti-spam rule?? Ozzy47:D Congratulations my dear. Never thought that maybe this can be the issue. I thought that maybe there is a country restriction rule. At least put a more detailed message there :)

Well it would be something like this, Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8_2) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/27.0.1453.116 Safari/537.36
Go to your online page on your site and choose to show useragent string.

What if I say that I understood nothing? Should be that I've IQ 1? Which online page and where to choose to show that string? Do you mean in my vB admincp?
ozzy47
01-03-2015, 02:59 PM
Nope, on your vB site, go to online.php
Then at the bottom of that page you gave a select box that is titled,
User Agent: set that to yes, and then click on the Display button.
Once the page refreshes, get the useragent string for yourself, and paste it here.

After 5 years using vB4 it's the first time that I'm seeing this page.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:34.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/34.0
But as I said I got the same message when tried to register with IE, Chrome and even Opera. I think that in those case the useragent should be different.
