My site www.tooraktimes.com.au has been hacked by TH3H4CK 5 times in the last month even though I removed install file and upgraded to 4.2.2.

The ONLY help vB.com will give me is this incredibly long list of to do's that by the time I am half way through I am hacked again.

They know about this issue, but I have so far had to pay 500aus to fix stuff that isn't my fault and am up for another 260 just to get my site up again. I have been speaking with Zackery and even when they say they fixed things the 3rd time it wasn't fixed.

Now all I get is standard "Fix it yourself. not our problem!" well it might become yours if you can't support your own products guys,

In the mean time I have spent 3 years and thousands of dollars with vB and mod builders and I think I am done, beaten by a company that doesn't seem to care enough for their customers.

What can I do? I have spent so much time and money building something that thousands of people read each day and now I can't do it at all because I invested everything in vBulletin, seriously feeling ill

This has been going on for a while now, and as vB is often a 'learner' platform the brand is smashing itself with not dealing with this in a timely manner.

There are other platforms out there and also being built.

I haven't used it as a traditional forum, although that is where I come from, I started this www.bowlsworld.com.au/forums for some mates, but I saw the potential in the CMS or Publishing Suite, I still think it is a better option than WP or Joomla, Drupal etc, but if we are always being brought down because of the holes in the code of the platform we are all in a Titanic-al struggle for survival, for what is next???

We NEED you to get your ships together guys!

Maybe try blocking all IPs except for your own via an .htaccess file while you do the recommended fixes?

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with this.

There is, they tell us to uninstall the /install/ folder to protect it...?????? This does seem Dr Strangelove to me. Then I got a bible of instructions to how I might further protect myself, but by the time I was half way through reading my site got smashed agin.

Thank god I take daily saves, but my hosts are geting sorely tired of this too

No shouldn't be??

Although I have far more mods going on than recommended...lol

Pretty sure I paid for that removal anyway, don't know why I let everyone else in for their chop
I just wish they would make tasty icons instead of that terrible type

You need to remove the entire install directory, not just the install file as per your OP. Read the relevant thread at vbulletin.com.
