Another mod brought to you by,
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2015/01/1.png

Here is a small modification you can use to exclude forums from showing in the Activity Stream.

It is a simple installation, just import the product XML, product-ozzmodz_excl_activ_stream

You can edit the options under the settings, OzzModz: Exclude Forums From Activity Stream Settings

Complete Feature List
Option to disable the mod completely.
Option to select which forums, new threads / posts won't show in the activity stream.Frequently Asked Questions.

Q. Why do I need such a thing, you ask?

A. You may have forums that have results from a sporting event, and some members may not have watched it yet. So if they were to view the Activity Stream, they might see the results that another user posted, spoiling their unknown outcome of the event.

Q. I installed this, selected the forums, but viewing the activity stream, they still show?

A. This only will work on newly posted threads / posts, not ones already posted.

What does 'Marking As Installed' do ?

* It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified whenever new updates are available.

* For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention.

* Marking a modification as installed also helps me know how many people are using my work, giving me extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications.

I appreciate the support!

v1.0.0 Initial release.
v1.1.0 Changed the forum setting from entering ID's to a forum selector.
v1.1.1 Should have now fixed some users reporting that the mod was not working.

Would be better if you could select from a list of your forums via <Ctrl>+click. Getting forum ID numbers in vBulletin is a pain.

I knew someone would ask for that, give me a bit to update it. Thanks for marking as installed. :)

In the setting of a forum excluded, but there are new posts and threads of all forums

I am unable to replicate this, if you want me to look into it, please pm me with your site link, and a admin account and I can look into it for you.

I don't think they added that option, even if they did, this would be faster instead of editing each forum.

If one selects a sub-category does/will it include all forums under neath it? If not can you pretty please allow for this? I have a few categories that always are changing and would make life 100% easier if I could just select the sub category and forget it knowing everything is covered.

TBH I am not sure, if you could test it and see for me. If it don't I do not think there is a way around it IIRC, or that could have been with usergroup perms.

I install it on vb 5.0.5
It work, but in menu "Forums To Exclude" I don't see any one of my forums.
What can I do to solve this?

ozzy47
11-26-2013, 11:01 AM
That's because this is not for vB5. :)

Can you advise something to me?

There is no mod that I know of that does this in vB5

I installed it on vB 4.2.2, doesn't seem to work.

Let me clarify this: The hack works only for posts made after you install it, not for those made before.

OK, I found an issue with this.

We have a forum in our site, in which we copy/mode posts or threads that violate our rules. A typical way of doing this is to select some posts from a thread, using the moderation tool and move them to a new thread in that forum, let's call it "The Laundry Room".

Well, I have excluded the Laundry Room from being reported in the Activity stream, and it works just fine, if you go and start a new thread or add a post in that forum, but threads created by the moderation tools, unfortunately get reported. Not good! :)

Any ideas?!?!

I'll see if I can replicate this scenario on my dev site.

How difficult would it be to make it so:
1) Users can decided themselves in their settings which Forums they want excluding from the Activity Steam?

2) Could this also be done to exclude Forums from the 'NEw Posts' ?

ozzy47

1) I don't know, I think that would require a bit of coding.

2) I just coded a mod for that, will release it later today.

1) But it is possible? How much coding? Talking hours, days, weeks, months?
Too much for you to set on at the moment Ozzy?

2) Excellent, glad I gave you the idea :D
