I want to upload video files as attachments then play them inline in JW player for example.
I am working to install ffmpeg but then not sure what player to use...there are several hacks offered here.

There is a lot involved with that. I used to use a software that would do it, and then post them like you would with YouTube. After that you need to make sure your host completely understands how hosting videos goes and have the required codecs installed. Many hosts will tell you the know, but most did not from what I experienced.

Thanks for your replies guys.
We used to be able to upload videos and play them directly on the site but we moved to a new more "modern" server and now I am stuck.

I also do the youtube thing but have some videos that Youtube may have copyright issues with. Lately it seems like they have a problem with everything. I also want to use the usergroup permission system with in Vbulletin. For now though I just need a decent player to embed this but not a third party thing like JW.
Thanks bro,
Rich

Well I used this software, http://www.mediascripts.com/
The Social Media one. Then you have to make sure your host supports it, alot of them say they do, but I found out that quite a few hosts had no friggin clue how to set up the proper codecs to allow the software to work.
I had tries about 4 other video scripts as well, but that one was the best in the end, when configured right, I was able to convert and load 3+ hour movies to the site.

Thanks man! That looks perfect.
I run my servers so yeah, your right. I have no idea how to support it but I am sure I can handle adding some codecs. If not I will be back.:p

I use VideoLightBox (http://videolightbox.com/) for everything.

If I make these videos private on Youtube do they still get scrutinized by Google?
I am a little confused how this would work. You make them private in your channel and then embed them to the site and they still play for everyone?

Surely there has to be a free option somewhere? Even something simple would be fine.

I found this. It isn't really meant to play attachments but I think it will suit my purposes.
What do you guys think?
