Reputation - Equal across the board

Hi guys,

Am looking to set up reputation on my forum but due to previous experiences would like it so that it the reputation given is equal from all members. From what I understand of Rep, the longer you are a member and the more Rep you have received, the more of a 'hit' you give other members when you leave them rep (positive or negative). How is the best way to reduce this as much as possible, so that it is more 'equal'. What is the best way to set the Reputation Settings in the AdminCP?

AdminCP > Settings > Options > reputation options and set the Reputation Power Cap to be the same as the Default Reputation. (I've never tried that, but don't see why it wouldn't work.)
