View Full Version : When Saving a Style

After releasing 3.0, I decided to cut support for previous styles and save them on my computer and then delete them.

Because 3.0 was a child of Dance of the Dream Eater, the first style created, I went and saved it first and chose "Get customizations made in this style and all parent styles." My understanding of this is that it makes it a standalone style.

For example:
I edit the postbit_legacy template on Dance of the Dream Eater
If the postbit_legacy template is unedited on 3.0 and 3.0 is a child of Dance of the Dream Eater, 3.0 will inherit those changes
If I save 3.0 with customizations made in it and all parent styles and re-upload it, postbit_legacy will no longer be affected by changes made on Dance of the Dream Eater if made a child of Dance of the Dream Eater againAnyway, moving on, while all templates that came with vBulletin on 3.0 kept changes when I saved it using ""Get customizations made in this style and all parent styles," deleted it and re-uploaded it as a parent style, it seems that changes made to templates from modifications didn't stick and had to be redone.

I even tried re-uploading the original parent style Dance of the Dream Eater, and all changes I made to modification templates there were lost, too.

Why don't edits to templates that come from modifications stick if you save a style, delete it and re-upload it for whatever reasons?

Bump.

Not a huge deal, but still curious.
