We have "Display Usergroup" and "Additional Usergroups" for a user set to: Contributing Members

Custom User Title: No

The Contributing Members Usergroup has the following settings:

User Title: "Contributing Member"
Can Use Custom Title: No

So why are they still displaying with the default "New Member"? I don't want hard-change their User Title to "Yes, Admin Set" and "Contributing Members" (which I know works), because this makes it a huge pain if we ever decide to change the Contributing Members title.

This should work, correct? Isn't that what "Display Usergroup" is for?

Can you provide a screenshot of all the setting in the usergroup area of this user's Admin CP profile?

These settings seem to be running on a cron job or cache or something - we're seeing them update every few hours, sometimes it takes a full day. Huh??

Does that look right?

Looks right to me. I'm thinking it's an as designed thing.

If you make their primary usergroup Contributing Members, does it display the user title Contributing Member?

Nope - only if we change the user title manually and do "Admin Set".

The weird thing is though, after about 12-24 hours, the user title does change to reflect "Display Usergroup". It just didn't happen immediately, which is what confused us. I think it must run in one of the scheduled tasks.

Did you ever try running Update User Titles and Ranks in General Update Tools?

Oh that's a good idea! I will try that next time and see if it makes it more instantaneous. Thank you for your help!!
