Hello all,
For SEO purposes I'd like to remove the forum name from the forum page titles. I removed $vboptions[bbtitle]from the main templates. I have friendly URLs enabled. The pages titles are now showing without the forum name at the end. But in google search results the forum name is still tacked on, also on new threads that were posted after I made the change. Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm have VB 3.8.7 with VBSEO installed.

This is really puzzling to me. The forum page titles no longer contain the forum name. But google keeps indexing the links with the forum name appended to the end with a dash - . No one knows why this is happening?

I don't think Google indexes all your pages every day. You need to give them a couple of weeks to reindex them all.

Google is appending the forum name to new threads. That is, threads that have been created after I removed the forum name. I understand if old threads remain unaffected with the forum name attached. But new threads, why?

I don't know. How about a link to a thread on your site that is having this issue?

And you are researching the issue on google also, right? , to see how they index items?

A couple of weeks later I've come to the conclusion that after removing the forum name from page titles, google will continue appending it to new threads. Except whereas before google would always add the forum name in search results, now sometimes it doesn't.
