View Full Version : A couple of V5 issues - mobile editing, FAQ and Forum Jump

Hi Everyone
As you can see I am rather new around these parts. I am having a little trouble with my vB and was looking for some advice from more experienced users.
1. When viewing my forum on a mobile, editing posts has an issue. When we select "edit" you have to re-enter all the text. No previous text is displayed to actually edit. This has been seen on both iPad (iOS) and Android.
2. There is no FAQ editor/manager in my admin CP. Thus my FAQ link is broken.
3. Is Forum Jump/Quick Navigate available any more? If so, where can I find it? I cannot seem to find the option anywhere!
I am using version 5.0.2 patch 1
Thanks for your help.

I can't comment on the specific, but if were me, I would go look for the your problem over at vbulletin's JIRA. Check your version to see if your problems are known bugs and if they have fixed them in version 5.0.3. Even if they haven't fixed them sometimes a user posts a fix.
Just a suggestion, best of luck! ;)

If it were me I'd trash the vb5 install and go with vb4, at least there aren't near as many broken "features" with vb 4 ;)

1. Did you check Jira for that? I haven't heard of that problem before.
2. It is under admincp > Help > Help Manager (it isn't called "FAQ" anymore; it is now called "Help")
3. There is no Quick Jump dropdown any longer.

Good to know @Lynne, before I started looking for those features myself.

Hi,
I am looking to make my own Quick Jump, anyone tried this yet?
Any Ideas would be helpful.
Thanks

I've never understood the want or need for the quick jump. Its a ton of useless html on every page. What does it do for you exactly?

I have quite a number of forum topics, and sub-forums. I wanted a similar, type of drop down box i.e. in the admin control panel>channel manager>, when there are multiple forums, or similar to the drop down boxes I see in vb4 here on this website. It is purely for navigation purposes, so instead of scrolling down pages and pages, users can navigate quickly from the top of the page, to the forum, using a drop down box, and clicking view or go to jump to that forum page.
I am new to vB5 and if there is an alternative that I have missed, then, I would be happy to use it.
Thanks
John

This is still a problem in vB 5.1.0.
Also, the mobile skin drops all carriage returns, so when you post, your formatting goes away and you have a block of text.

A fix would be really nice!

Wow... version 5.1.2 - 4 months after your post - still has the same bugs.
