Hi craig,
Looks like you've got a ton of cool mods installed on this site! The style renders sort of strangely on my laptop (15" MBP / Chrome / 1440x900). Not sure if it's my machine, or the style itself. But there is a lot of stuff that could be padded, or have a consistent gradient (instead of repeating vertical gradients, which looks a little messy). Same with the global background - could you just make it static (ie, not move when the page is scrolled)?
Threads look much better, although the graphic titles (Owner, Banned, etc) are not meant for dark themes, hence the white edges. Might be worth converting these in Photoshop.
I really love the baby blue + black combination. Looks like a really cool forum - great work!

First of all, I'm NO expert but, I know a nice site when I see it. Any advice I have for you is solely just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.
The site is pretty much a mess. I would suggest you use one of the many really nice free styles that are available on this site for download.
To me your "light theme" looks a lot better than your default so there is hope.
You need to work on your navbar links. They need padding on the bottom. A lot of the elements on your default theme need padding.
Your background needs to flow from top to bottom. A large repeating background is a dead giveaway for a poorly designed site. Your forum rows need to also flow so they don't repeat in a single section.
As I suggested, try another theme. It makes all the difference in the world and, there are so many really nice ones available that are free.
Hope you got something good out of this.
