1.- What's this mod?

Is better to say what is NOT this mod :). For those who have used MarysClassifieds, I can say that they are 2 products which you can't compate. MarysClassifieds had dozens of features, but when I installed in my site I realized that I need only 10% of those features. Maybe less. This is SL Classifieds. A minimalist version of MarysClassifieds, but I bet that 70% of the webmasters will find this one more pretty, more usefull.
It supports 4 types of Classifieds:
For Sale
Wanted
For Trade
Free Offers
Supports unlimited categories
Supports Extra fields (but not searchable)
Has PM templates for:
PM user when admin approves his Classifieds
PM user when admin rejects Classified
PM seller when a user Makes an Offer
PM seller when a user clicks Buy it
PM seller when a use uses the contact form
Supports 5 statuses:
Open
Hidden
Reserved
Expired
Sold
Please note that unlike my old mod, here nothing is automatic. The seller has to take care to switch between statuses.
There are listings for:
Category classifieds
Timeframe (What's New) Classifieds
Seller Classifieds
Search Results
In view Ad page the visitor can see also:
Other classifieds from the same seller
Similar classifieds from the same category
In all pages there are available the follow blocks having the appearance of widgets:

Version 1.5 additions:
Facebook Like Advanced (Shows users who liked it)
RSS Feeds of last 10 Classifieds
Seller has the ability to not mark a classifieds as reserved when a user clickc BuyNow, in case that he has stock of the same items and he wants to keep classifieds active.
Added description in extra fields appearing as help text in add/edit form.
In case that a category has no subcategories, beside the "No more categories" added an icon/link to previous category level.
2.- How you can make (a bit) money with it.

Using vBulletin's Subscriptions Manager you can set subscription which will upgrade the subscribers to a higher usergroup with more privilenges in SL Classifieds. eg:
To restrict post in specific categories. The system works such a way that for each category you can set who can post:
All usergroups
None usergroup
Specific usergroup(s).
To allow more days for postings. eg usergroup A can set a maximum of 15 days before the Ad will remove from the system, while usergroup B can set the Ad's duration for 45 days etc.
Concurrent Ads. eg Register users can have only 1 active ad, while your VIP usergroup can has 5 ..or 10 ... or whatever you want.
More photos per Ad3.- Installation
Download and unzip the file Classifieds_XXXX.zip
Upload the content of upload folder to the directory where your vB installation is. As a check: classifieds.php must be on the same directoru as global.php, forum.php etc. SL Classifieds are not working out of vB installation directory.
CMOD 777 the directories:
christeris/classifieds/photos
christeris/classifieds/photos/thumbs
christeris/classifieds/photos/tmp
Goto Admincp and import product-classifieds.xml. Double check before if you have another product with the same name.
Set the various settings in Classifieds->General settings
Set usergroup permissions
Check and modify if you want PM templates.
Set categories
Set Extra fields (in case that you want them).4.- SEO URLs
If you're using vbSeo open the file Classifieds_vBSEO_Custom_Rewrite_Rules.txt and add them to your vbSeo installation.
If you're using .htaccasse file copy the contents of htaccess.txt and add it to your current .htaccess files. If you don't have such file and your server is compatible with such files, upload htaccess.txt to your vB directory and rename it to: .htaccess5. CMS Widget / Forum Sidebar Block for Latest Classifieds
Shows latest 5 Classifieds. If you want to change the number to another value change at 1st line: $maxitems = 5;
Installation as CMS Widget
Goto Admincp-> vBulletin CMS-> Widgets
Click "Create New Widget" at the list bottom
Set Widget Type: PHP Direct Execution
Give a Title which appears at the widget. eg Last Classifieds, or.. Last 5 Classifieds etc
Click SAVE
Find in the list the new widget and click configure at the right side
Replace the example code, with the code from Widget_Latest_Classifieds.txt
Click Save
Goto Layout and add it in any section you want
Click Save (Layout)
Installation as Forum sidebar Block
Goto Admincp-> Forums & Moderators -> Forum Block Manager
Click Add Block
In the next screen "Select block type: Custom HTML/PHP"
Click Continue
Title: Latest Classifieds
Content Type: PHP
Content: Copy & Paste the code from Widget_Latest_Classifieds.txt
Click Save. The block will be now visible to your forum sidebar 6.- Copyright Link

Since the time that DBTech released their Copyright Manager, I've removed my own copyrights. I found their action insulting me to maximum. Their wording "Site is powered by vBulletin AddOns and Modules by Dragonbyte Tech" (and not "Some parts of this site"), means that everything there is their own work, ignoring on the worst way the fact that there are 100's of other coders and designers who are supporting this community for years. So you mean a case where the user uploads audio files and then the visitors can listen to these files by using an embeded audion player? If yes this is not for you, but my Articles addon (still in dev status) will has this feature.

Yes you can do it. It's a totally re-written addon. Not copy & paste from the old one. So new tables, new field names. Nothing to worry for messing your system.

Hmmm, I like this and have to dig into it a bit. Do you have plans for upgrades, more features, etc?

Yes and No. Everything is about priorities. This addon has the features that I want for my site. So I'll focus on finishing some other "SlimLine" addons that I need, and then yes, I'll add some extra features depending on the feedback. But don't expect "exotic" features. For example: Adding extra fields in the search form is on my todo list. But adding online payments for sellers etc etc, sorry they're not in my plans.

There were 2 bugs (wrong directories) which fixed in version 1.1.0. Please download and upload:

classifieds_usercp.php to forum root directory
classifieds_admin.php to your admincp

Finally (optional) import the xml file just to update the version number.

Errors for wrong directories fixed in ver. 1.1.0. As for the terms. You need to edit with a text editor the file christeris/includes/terms.php
You can add any html text there. When finish upload this file to:
your_vb_installation/christeris/includes/

OK, I got an ad to post.

However, still cant upload more then 1 photo, and the 1 photo it allowed me to upload didnt display, just a red x.

Also, the ad keeps defaulting to expire in 0 days every time I try to edit the ad. Additionally, that section doesnt have a max duration set - it says:

Set the number of days that your ad will be available. After this period the ad will be close. (Max: days)

I'll check it as I got the same error twice today. It from the cronjob. The one error post by @joeychgo is easy.... Forgot the variable sign ($) ... must be ends<$timelimit.
But the error that I'm getting is different. Maybe it comes from another cronfile that is not in use anymore.
To speedy the solution upload the attached file to: vb_install/includes/cron/

I think that this is something that you need to ask to your hosting provider. Most probably is a function which resizes and then crops the uploade photo.

What if you become the pioneer in Arabic world and start using LTR? :rolleyes::D. Sorry, I'm kidding. It's true that I'm always forgeting to use that align="{vb:stylevar left}", but if I remember well, in most cases i didn't used align at all.
I'll try to have the update version using the stylevars.

'ChrisTERis;' is right, that problem relates to a vulnerable PHP version. Talk to you host and update to a later version of PHP, anything above version 5.1.14. It was wise that they disabled 'sscanf' for that version of PHP.

Sorry, I can't reproduce it as you can see at: http://www.christeris.net/dev42/classifieds.php
I added 4 ads, all different types. Expiration was ok. Then I edited all of them one by one by changing the duration (you can see in title saying (+3)..(+2) etc). All ok.
So let's try to find what's wrong in your side. In the place where you need to add the days there is a description below. What it says? If you've set as max 30, must says something like "Max 30 days". Does it says it?. Also are you sure that you've entered something in the days field. By letting it to "0" does not means that it will takes the maximum duration of 30 days.

Don't waste your time anymore. I found the bug and need some time to fix it. The max is empty only to users who belong to more than one usergroups. Even if I'm checking all the usergroups to get the maximum allowed value, maybe I've something wrong in calculation.

OK, I noticed something...

Its uploading photos to a "classifieds" directory it SEEMS to be creating on its own, outside of the christeris directory and the photos are being placed there, but.....

It's a title for the photo and it was supposed to appear as title in lightbox popup. But for some reason it does not appears. I used for testing purposes highslide (which I prefer over lighbox) and works fine.

So, you can let that field empty.

You know that is not difficult as I've already it in MarysClassifieds. But my current line of coding is to have easy in use mods. If someday I'll release a PRO version, I'll add it. But currently is not in my plans.

I understood that. And what you're calling phonetic spelling is the Airline's alphabet. Came in life as way for better understanding in communication between Pilots and Air Traffic controllers :).

Could this be added to the recent activity page? This is something we would want our members to see. I also think adding it to the whats new page is spot on. If it were to look different and list as a classifieds it would create more activity in the classifieds section by making members aware.

I have a question and a request.

If it's on the homepage only (without selecting any category), then is a known bug. I need to make a change to a function, but I'l always forgeting it. Hold on for the update.

Haven't sturides yet the possibility to add extra content to activity stream, but I think that it gets content only from vB sections or from mods using the forum engine. I'm not using the forum engine, so I have some doubts if I can add them there. But I do agree that is good to have new ads listing in activity.

Don't think that I'm expecting to have profits from my site. Not even a single chance. Everything is about my "ego". I registered that domain back to 1998. 15 years now. At that time nobody even knows about internet in my small town (10,000 citizens). Now I found 3 sites working as "portals" here. Portal on their meaning is a simple page full of advertisments. That's why I want to start it as soon as possible.

After all for sure I'll add some extra features. eg A social media sharing is a must. A simple positive/negative rating also. Not forget to mention that adding extra fields in search form is also very usefull. But step by step. Need time and clear mind.

1.- Being in Classifieds secrion (after clicking Classifieds Tab), ...or...
2.- From your UserCp (Settings)

but as Charlie Delta said, first of all you need to have set permissions for posting. Being Admin doesn't means that you've by deafult permissions to post.

You can set a high amount for expiratin for admins (usergroup permissions). eg 3650 for 10 years. If you want to remove that line at all in view ad page ....come on... it's a toy for you to add a condition there :)

2. A purchase option. When a member ads an item you should have a place for their PayPal email if they have one. So now if another members wants to purchase said item they would select the purchase item option. This would take them to the PayPal page to pay for said item. The seller would then also get a PM.

With the above you would also need to list how many items are for sale. So as in our store that would be unlimited. If you have a limited number of these items once that limit is reached it should flag that item as sold. You could also have a counter indicating how many items are still available to be sold as they are sold.

Otherwise this is an awesome mod all round congratulations on it :)

Ok I have it setup like this my main usergroup being Admin and a secondary that I created for this as Classified. Changed the secondary to 999 and it still gives me the 30 days that my primary has in it. Also changed the primary to 999 and then it allows me the 999

With stuff like this I just add a PayPal cart image and link it to my PayPal cart url for the product...works for me in a pinch

The system already supports to show Sold/Expired in ads that haven't removed from the system. But these ads are appearing only when someone browses the "Seller's Ads" or if select "All" as status (default is "Open") in Search form.
If you don't want the ads to be removed from the system you've 2 options:
1.- Set a long time as duration for in usergroup permissions
2.- (This is better). If you like the idea to have different duration per usergroup then let the duration setting as is (eg register members 30 days, vip members 120 days etc) and change in general settings the grace perio to a high value. eg 1000. In this case an ad post by a register user will expires in 30 days but it will stays in the system for 1000 days after expiration.

As per you question. Sure yes can change it as they're just phrases, but later on you'll be messed with the forms at they're containing fields/values for Genarlar Classifieds.

I am still having this issue where it takes the lower of any settings if a member belongs to more than one usergroup that can use the classified.

This member has two usergroups associated to them both Additional Users Group.

Group 1 Normal member (Additional Users Group)

Believe me it should confuse your users. For me is noting to do it as the only that I need is to remove "AND status=1" from the query. But I don't suggest it. If someone wants to see all Classifieds is so easy to select "Status: --All--" (instead of the default Status: Open) in the search form. By doing it he will get a listing from all classifieds (except hidden).

Seller has the ability to not mark a classifieds as reserved when a user clickc BuyNow, in case that he has stock of the same items and he wants to keep classifieds active.
Added description in extra fields appearing as help text in add/edit form.
In case that a category has no subcategories, beside the "No more categories" added an icon/link to previous category level.
How to upgrade:
Please download, unzip and upload ALL files. There are changes almost in all files, plus new images in the image directory. So a selectable upload is not advisable.
Import product-classifieds.xml from your admincp. Don't forget to check "Overwrite".

Solved by adding 'that' error in Sql table

The problem is why that field didn't created by the product-classifieds.xml. Have you imported that file??. I seen the code and is correct:

I have not fixed it but I do know what the issue is. If I have this mod enabled, https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=277323, there is some sort of JS conflict. I have contacted DBT to see if it something on their end. If I disable the DBT mod the editor displays and loads fine.

My apologies. There was a missing double quote to close the query at the end. I've released v.1.5.1 to fix it, but I think that is better to remove that manually created field and let the new xml to add them. Otherwise you'll have problems in furture updates.

I check one by one all frontend templates. In all templates the classifieds.css is including:

See if classifieds.css has been installed on your custom style. If not you can copy the content of classifieds.css to additional.css of your custom title.
If it's about design issues (eg a color is not good) you can change the stylevars in classifieds.css. They're less than 10.

Yes the classifieds.css is present in all styles. It is more of a template issue. For instance the template is missing {vb:raw headinclude_bottom}

I don't think that you messed anything. Most probably you're expecting to see these buttons in your own ads? What's the reason to see them? Are you planing to buy your own products:rolleyes:

I can't access that page (permissions error) but if the message that you're getting is about date format (something like "expecting long..."), you'll find the solution in version 1.6.1 that I'll release just after this post.

And yes you can use RSS for widget, but I'll release a widger for CMS and a block for Forum sidebar. It was to do it today but I had lot of work to finish, so I let it for tomorrow.

It happens sometimes with the language code. You need to manually edit the file classifieds.php. Open it with a text editor (like notepad)....

Search for:

header('Content-Type: text/xml; charset='.$vbulletin->options["charset"].'');


Replace it with:

header('Content-Type: text/xml; charset=utf-8');


utf-8 is a sample here working in most cases. But you need to add the charset that you've set in your admincp-> Languages-> Settingd (eg iso-8859-1 etc etc).

I know VBSSO (is that one for single login?) only as a name. Never had the need to use it. Could you please disable it just for a moment to see if classifieds should work? Nobody has reported such an issue, and also in my site works fine.

So it seems I have all but one styling issue solved and this last one I just can't put my finger on it.
It seems it is centering any custom edits on the classifieds page. From the link below you will see I have a custom welcome message in my header which is centered and my Partner links in the footer. They both should be left justified.

Moderation it says appore not approve but other than this it's a great plugin. Easy to use and I have added in a few minutes. I have been looking at other products like phpmydirectory which are great but take a long time to implement. This is great and is quick, easy, straightforward and built into vBulletin. If you could just link into the activity stream for 2.4.1 that would do everything for me.

What do you mean? Did you found any bug on it. I've seperated the need for approval per usergroup for more flexibility. eg you many want to approve posts from registered members, but you don't want to do it for a premium members usergroup.

phpmydirectory which are great but take a long time to implement. .
I've a license for phpMyDirectory around 7 years ago. It started as directory (links) script and then improved to support classifieds. But even the best php script can't be a real part of vBuleetin other than sharing login. There are some others which can be implement with design and/or usergroup permissions, but again is difficult to work with them.

That happens because I don't have a seperate vB license to use for demostration. I asked a favor from vB.com to allow me to have an installation with closed registrations (other than 3 demo accounts) and they refused it. So I'm using my developer installation which most offen bring errors. eg currently I'm working in a reviews mod and many time I'm turning seo on/off, or for minor changes that I'm doing in files I forget to update the installation.

Sorry I can't get your meaning. First of all that menu is visible only to those who have permission to moderate classifieds. Clicking the link you'll redirects you to:
classifieds_modcp.php?do=approveads
where you'll see a list of all classifieds awaiting approval. On the right of each classified you'll see a droplist with options to Approve or Rejece it. After this action the user will be get a PM with info if his ad has been approved or rejected.

Edited: I just seen the typo. Appore instead Approve. Ok I'll fix it. But you can easily modify the phrase from your admincp language and phrases.

Edited 2: Import the attached file and it will fix it.

Don't remember in which version vB added the Navigation Manager. I think it was 4.2. If you don't have the Navigation manager should not works.

The bad point of vB is that does not help developer at all in such issues. There is no documentation at all. But seeing the database, I don't think that is easy.

The option "access" is exactly for this reason. To see the listings and the classified page. So give access to guest to be able to see your page.

If I give guest the option to use classifieds they can respond to the classified. I would prefer that one option to would require a user account.

They can't respond to anything. They can see only the tab classifieds, they can see the listings, they can search but nothing more. To be able to respond, buy, make offer etc they must have permission "Post".

Oh the option is available but when you send you get the error to login. Ok. Actually I like that. Now the user has to decide if they want to create an account or not.

Also if I create an wanted classified with no picture it all looks ok except the image is missing in the main list. The other parts show the 'no image available' icon. Please see example:

There seems to be a styling issue somewhere. When an ad is posted with 6 images (the large one and 5 additional) the gallery images aren't playing nice. When I viewed the source the colspan is reading as "2" throughout the page and that is wrong since each image is its own td. The colspan should be reading as 5 I think.

I have it set for 3. I even just downloaded the script again and re-installed it but the issue hasn't changed. I changed the number to 4 and 5 as well but that had no affect.

Classifieds 1.7.0 just released with follow bug fixes:

Broken image link in category listings where there was no photo uploaded
Wrong link on clicking the back button (categories block) where the main category has no subcategories
RSS error. Seems that RSS can't parse well the language code, that's why I hand coded iso-8859-1. If you're using another charset you need to edit classifieds.php and search for iso-8859-1 and then replace it with your own.
Added extra check to secure that non-logon user can't see any button (buy, make offer etc) in view ad page
Completed the RTL supportTo upgrade:

First things first, I upgraded to the latest version and the style issue was resolved. Thanks! I have a small team beta testing this on my site so I am going to add any issues I find. Hopefully i can locate them all for a final release. :)

When viewing an ad and similar classifieds are shown, the title doesn't link to the classified ad. It links to my sites homepage.

Someone posted a "Wanted" ad and when I view it I have the option to "Make Offer". There is nothing to make an offer on since they are seeking a product or service. The same is true for posting a trade. There should be either a different form for trades and the wanted section, that caters to that type of listing, or should we remove the "Make Offer" entirely for those?

Under the "Make Offer" form there is a spelling error. It says "Conatct Phone" which should read "Contact Phone". (I manually corrected the phrase but am pointing it out for the next release.)

I have attached a screenshot to show another small style issue.

I also have a request, though I will understand if you don't do it. Could you please pass titles in the url. Instead of it saying "category-2" it would be better for SEO if it said "cat-title-2". The same is true for products. By passing the title into the url vBseo and .htaccess can pass it as a keyword rich link.

Also on a side note I have had a few testers use it and did not notice the Make Offer link at first. What do you think if that was a button too?

I have had several Trades people ask if they can list in the classified directory. But there ad would need to stay their for a contracted period, usually 3,6 0r 12 months.

How long will be the maximum duration is up to you. You can setup on per usergroup basis the maximum duration.
