Members editing/deleting posts

I need help finding where to alter the amount of time allowed for members to edit/delete their own posts, the ability to do so is causing some problems with he said I said accusations, when I get to the thread the posts have all been deleted.

The time limit is under Settings > Options > Message Posting and Editing Options. There's also a "Post Edit History" option that you can turn on to save previous posts (but click on the Help icon and read the limitations).
