I check to see what templates have been customized or maybe what posting setting have been set, because you should see a reply button between edit post and reply with quote.

By default a "Reply" link should appear on every post next to Edit, which means that somewhere in your style something was changed.

see:

without a link to the forum in question, there really is no way to tell what's going on..

EDIT: Check your Quick Reply settings, if you turn Quick Reply off, the reply link will disappear (at least it did for me on my dev vBulletin)

This = No Reply link at bottom of post:

This = Reply link at bottom of post:

the third option should be the same as the second image.

Sorry I don't know. I personally leave it up to members to decide if they want the advanced editor or not when replying/quoting.

I imagine there's a plugin or mod or something out there you could use to force everyone to the 'advanced' version, though I don't know of any offhand.

There already is in option.

There are two ways to reply to a thread without quoting:
Click the Reply link located on the footer of each post
Click the Reply to Thread button

Hi Armoury.

The footer of each post does not have a reply link. That is exactly the problem :) Therefore people click the replywithquote link, which causes excessive and unnecessary quoting.

It seems that VB does not display a reply link when quickreply is disabled.

Then enable Quick Reply.

However, even with it disabled, you can still use Reply to Thread.
