currently they are one below the other and one can herdly tell which is parent and which one is child

I have
VSa - Sub-Forum Manager
which is the only one form the above which supports 4.2.0
But I dont know which option does it,I did scan through it

just set the number of columns you want in the second option

set it to 7 under settings>options but I still see this

ah ok, I see the problem.
solution:
in admin panel under settings open options menu
select Forum Listings Display Options in the drop down menu on top
set Depth of Forums - Forum Home to 2
set Depth of Forums - Forum Display to 1
set Depth of Sub-Forums to 1
that should do it.
