User Options - Default Sort Field and Order

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone might know what happened to the option for individual users to set their own preferred Default Sort Field and Order.

For example, the forums' Default Sort Field and Order are all set to "Thread Start Time - Descending" but a particular user would like to set their view of all the forums to "Last Post Time - Descending". They don't want to have to click "Replies" every time they visit each forum to sort the forum as they prefer. (and, just to be clear, I'm not talking about 'thread display mode' which I know users can still set in their admincp)

I'm certain this used to be a feature (or perhaps a mod) of vBulletin 3.X. Does anyone know what happened to it and why? Thanks a lot for any insight on this!

I found this old mod (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=93074) that did this
This Hacks allows you to specify default Sort Field/Order for Thread Display on a System, Forum and User basis.
but it says it "does not work with vBulletin 3.6+ as this is a built-in feature now"

So my question is what happened to specifying default sort field/order on a user basis? Is this still possible in some way?
