suggestion for latest topics

Hello friends,

I am looking to add latest topics in clean and simple way at forum home , only with topic title and link to topic, may be 10-12 but without degrading forumhome load / performance.
I have am using sidebar but I guess thats not helping so want on top of the forumhome.
