So far I absolutely hate it compared to 4.2

It lacks info, functionality, alot of things still don't work

Why no new posts function, where is the forum info like # of posts or threads

It's just a real pain in the ass

a Member with may permissions set to admin can't admin anything, can't even move threads

I wish I could go back to 4.2

Well, it is unsupported Beta software, so a lot of it isn't even finished from what I can tell. It's not recommended for a live site. Why can't you go back to vB4, exactly? Do you not still have a backup of vB4? (Granted, you'll loose any posts made since upgrading.)

One method I've never tested, but figured should work, was to migrate to one of those free forums available that support vB migration. Then migrate back to vB on whatever older version you have. Time consuming, and again, I've never tested it. But theoretically, it should work.

You didn't actually upgrade your live site to beta software without testing it out first, did you?

To be fair it does not say anything on the main vbulletin site that version 5 should not be used on a live site. They make it look like its a finished product. You have to actually look deeper to find out its very unfinished. The main website is a little misleading to be honest!

It clearly and very visible states that it is beta software. If you do not know what beta software is, you may want to look it up.

On the Purchase page (http://www.vbulletin.com/purchases/), before you even buy anything, next to a big giant exclamation point at the top of the page:

We are in the process of advancing to the latest version of our software, vBulletin 5 Connect. This new software is currently in beta. Your vBulletin Connect license gives you the option of deploying this beta or the previous version, vBulletin 4.2. (http://www.vbulletin.com/vbulletin4) Regardless, your license will let you upgrade to all future releases in the vBulletin 5.x series at no additional cost.

They don't get much more disclaimer-y than that. In this day and age, everyone looking to buy expensive software, purchase hosting and become a website administrator should have a concept as to what "Beta software" is. No one is more responsible for the amount of research you do before getting into something like this than you.

When can we expect an update that will fix major flaws? Like the editor and other things?

You realize this is not the official vB support forum?
