My ISP is Acenet. Their recent php upgrade caused my vB 3.7.3 site to go down. I had not changed because everything worked perfectly, there was nothing to fix. But then disaster struck. Acenet implemented a "temporary" fix, and I am limping along, but I can no longer access the Admin area.

The first thing I believe that I need to do is upgrade to 3.8.x. Is there a link to a tutorial for doing this available, given that I can not access my Admin area?

I don't think I can even disable the website while working on it, without accessing the Admin area. Hopefully I can use cPanel to delete the last backup file so that I can back up.

Thanks

Also, ACENET's servers are now using PHP version 5.3.x

I am hoping that vB 3.8.x is compatible with this PHP version.

Upgrade instructions for 3.8.7 are in the manual - http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/upgrade?manualversion=30807603

3.8.7 will work with PHP5.3.x

To turn off the board via the database, login to phpMyAdmin and run these queries (you must replace <PREFIX> with whatever table prefix you have set in your includes/config.php file:

UPDATE <PREFIX>datastore SET data=REPLACE(data,'s:8:"bbactive";i:1;','s:8:"bbactive";i:0;') WHERE title='options';
UPDATE <PREFIX>setting SET value=0 WHERE varname='bbactive';

Thank you Lynne!

I have my work cut out over the holidays. I will do this ASAP.

How do I close my board via cPanel? Or is that a question for ACENET? My backup just finished downloading to my computer.

In cPanel, you need to go to phpMyAdmin and then click into your forum database and then run the queries I listed in post #2.
