hi how do i replace the buttons like NEW THREAD, REPLY, EDIT, QUOTE, MULTI-QUOTE, etc as i want the vb3 buttons there as i think the vb4 buttons look plain.im guessing i`ll need to edit a template but what exactly would i need to put in the template as im not that good at this sort of stuff .i would think it`ll be the postbit template to edit but that about as far as i know lol

just replace the image files

Yep. Just replace the images with the new ones.
Name the new ones the same as the current ones and upload to the server

vB4 buttons are not image files, but css created. Only the icons on the buttons are images. So there is nothing to replace. To use image buttons instead, the OP would have to edit all relevant templates.

if you change the icons then it will show the new ones as long as they are the same name no templates need edited

yes as long as you rename them if any needs it and needs to be the same file type

make sure if you have a custom skin you put it in the right folder if it still does not work update the default folders as the images could be taken from there in the test i done it worked for me

i`ve got it to show on my other theme but its still dont look right and the default text is over the top of it here`s a screen shot

not all the button is there just a square of it and the default text is over the top of it

check the width of it and compare them to the vb4 ones

i dont know how to do that to be honest but like i said the text is also over the top of the button so jusy uploading the new button dont work i`ve been told by vbulletin that it will require template edit`s and to just ask here but i dont know where to start,some1 must of done this before i just hate the vb4 css style buttons so just want the vb3 buttons

Would take a bit, my tests worked without them. You could post in the paid section.
