[REQUEST] public display name hack

is there any "public display name" hack available in VBB????


i need it very much.

may anyone tell me how to add it???????:)

First goto your Admin cp:

Then click User profile fields -> Add

Add the title called Publicly Displayed Name and make it required, after adding it, click Modify then edit the Publicly Displayed Name. Now look at the url to see what field it is, on mine it was 5 but yours maybe differnt.


Now scroll down the left menu to edit templates, and edit the postbit template.


Find:

<normalfont><b>$post[username]</b></normalfont><br>


Replace it with:

<normalfont><b>$post[field5]</b></normalfont><br>

Besure to addjust the field5 to your feild for your publicly displayed name...



Now after:
<smallfont>$post[usertitle]</smallfont><br>

Add:
<smallfont>ID: $post[userid]</smallfont><br>


Now your ready to rock and ride, this is a very very basic thing, and you could go though your templates and edit the rest to suit your needs but this should work well.....
