View Full Version : Reply with Quote and Inserting Smilies Issues, very weird

I've had an issue where users have to click 'Reply with Quote' twice for it to work, because clicking once would give a 'loading' icon and never load anything. But users could always insert smilies without a problem once they're replying. However, if I change my Forum URL (Admin CP > Settings > Options > Site Name / URL / Contact Details) from "http://www.boostedk20.com/forums" to "http://www.boostedk20.com/" the Reply with Quote option works flawlessly in one click. However, once you click a smilie to insert it into the message it's unclickable. Mouse pointer doesn't change, and you can't click 'More' to view the popup with more smilies. Can someone help me out? Thanks

Create a new style with no parent:
Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Add New Style
Parent Style: No Parent Style
Title: Default vBulletin
Allow User Selection: Yes
Save
Then browse the site using that totally default vbulletin style - do you still have the same problem?

Same problem exists with the new style. Now what?

Are you using stub directories? If so, make sure you uploaded them from your do_not_upload directory to the correct place.

I'm not sure, what is a stub directory and how would I find out? Sorry Lynne, this part is new to me.

Well, do you have anything entered in AdminCP > Settings > Options > Site Name/URL/etc > Forum Component URL or CMS Component URL or Blog Component URL ? If so, you need to read the instructions there.

No I do not. The Forum URL is http://www.boostedk20.com/forums
When I edit the Forum Component URL as http://www.boostedk20.com/forums and make the Forum URL http://www.boostedk20.com nothing works properly and all forum links bring you back to the home page. So I made the component URL 'forums' and it worked better, but not good enough. Some links still toss back to the home page. Still messing around with it, but I'm not sure what exactly should be done to make it work properly. Maybe you'd know better

You are confusing me - you either have something entered in the component URL area (in which case you need to follow the instructions regarding the stub directory) or you do not have anything entered into any of the component URL areas (in which case you do not need to deal with stub directories at all).

I don't currently have anything there. I read the directions and started playing around with it, but creating subdirectories is messing me up

OK, no stub directories. Next thing to try is to disable your modifications/plugins and see if you still have this problem.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit includes/config.php and add this line right under <?php
define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);
Don't forget to test this using the totally default style you created in post 3.

Same thing, problem persists. Should I create stub directories?

Do you have a test username/password where we can logon and see the problem using firebug?

No, but I can create one for you and PM it to you. Want me to do that?

Yeah sure, but please give me a link to this thread so I know what the PM is about.
