Moving users to usergroup dependant on country

Im going to add a new user profile field which lists the country of the user.

I will then need that user to be moved to a usergroup. This is because one of my forums is based around pokerstaking and playing poker online in america is illegal. I need users that are in the USA to only see the relevant forums that they are allowed to see.

Any suggestions?

the forum is running on VB 3.7.2 and cannot be upgraded for the time being.

You could look at this mod: www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=148366 which I'm not familiar with but I think it might do what you want. Anyway, you would need to change it to check your new field and select the useergroup based on the value.
